Please guys I need an explication here.

What is this thing with the docs in the USA?!!!! I mean is it very expensive to got to the doctor or the hospital? What about the insurrance?

For us in Europe if anything is wrong, we just go to the doc, it's not expensive and so easy, but I got the impression that it's not the same thing in the States.....

It is not the same thing here. In our area to walk into the Dr. office for a minor complaint its aleast $75.00. Emergency Room never less than $300.00. I pay my own Health Insurance (a good plan, not great) as I sub-contract for the Firm I work for...$553 dollars a month! Yikes. This tells you why so many individuals do not have insurance. Why the high cost.....liability ie.Lawsuits!!! Americans love to sue one another!

I work in a hospital. You would think that the Medical Insurance here would be above average. It's not. My insurance is lacking (and that's putting it nicely.) When my youngest was born, just a little over a year ago, the epideral wasn't even covered. That was a $500 bill in itself, let alone the percentage that insurance doesn't cover. When it was all said and done. I paid over $2000 for our LAST child. That is just he hospital bill. That does not count the nine months of Doctor office visits my wife had. Throw those in and we're looking at $3500.

Some companies pay for health insurance...at least mine does. I only have to cover for dependents. With the HMO plan, I only pay $10 to go see a doc. Of course there are different rules governing this type of plan, but for the most part has been inexpensive and pays for major medical expenses that one would incur.

Still, it doesn't compare with the low-cost plans in other countries...

Wow, I'm sadly impressed...... never thought it was THAT bad.....

What can I say, except that I'm happy that I'm living in France..... (in spite of the darn election we just had..... but that's another long conversation.......)

Actually to clarify, I agree with Michael sort of. The healthcare AVAILABLE to us is probably the best in the world. If you can afford to get it from the corporate hospitals that plague America. It's just another way to make money to most people.
