How do you feel during it? If you are very short of breath or feel pain stop. But if you feel ok keep at it.

Nellie, if I'm not mistaken with your age that heart rate is within the cardio range. 35 minutes is good, but if you still want to lose weight try and aim for 45 minutes, even if you need to lower the resistance just a bit to keep you going.

In the "Body for Life" book, it says that you can do 20 min of REALLY intense cardio for the same effect. Never tried it, but if you do that, my suggestion is to put it at an intensity that you can't do more than 20 min.

That's called High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) Lisa, and it's also great cardio. Your heart rate will fly up to 90-95% so the total cardio time is normally no longer than 20-30 mins.

Jnellie, why not do two sessions of slow 35-45 mins and one or two HIIT weekly? You'll be fine with that.

I lost all my weight doing 20 minutes of medium intensity cardio five times a week on the stationary bike. I knew that I had worked hard enough if I had a good sweat going at the end.

At the end? lol

I've done 20 and 30 mins on a bike at decent pace in the last few days and i'm sweating by the 2nd minute. I'm dripping by 15.

Having a towel there is non optional for me lol.

Great job, see it's not so bad. I do 1 hour of cardio at least 5 days per week. I am starting to feel as it is second nature to me. We have mandatory PT 3 days a week and my Marines think I am crazy to get up on my own free will on off days, but it makes me feel good for the rest of the day.
