My bro-in-law told me a way of doing bicep curls which are more effective. I tried it and I noticed a big difference.
I used to sit down with the back of the seat completely straight and do my curls. Well my bro-in-law told me to have a bit of an incline back. He said it was an Arnold. Swartz. move. So he said that I may need to lower the amount of weights I use... I thought how could that be. I tried the weights I normally use, 10pders and that was too much weight, I had to go down to 8pds. The next day I could really feel it. I guess you get the stretch with it or something or it isolates more. Anyways, wanted to share.

Alternating incline dumbbell curls are great, and you're reasoning is right on the money. They hyper extend the bicep, particularly at the pec insert, and really take away the "swing" motion that may be generated by the shoulders.

Just be careful with these; they are more of an advanced movement - we don't need you going and popping anything! LOL!

Good luck....

You put the back of the seat leaning back some... not too far back but not straight either.

Then you take the dumbells at your sides, arms straight...stretching the arm.
Then, I do one at a time, I come up, turn wrists, palms facing you and curl. then come back down, turn wrists and relax arm with the dumbbell at your side. Hope I explained it okay.

When you have something supporting your back while you curl, there is less room for cheating and more room for good form...a necessity in building effective lean mass. Good post Viva!
