Hmmmm well you need to say more. Fitness IS health but can also be dangerous for your body when you don't know when to stop and go to the extremes.
It's a life style, not considered as something you do for 6 weeks and then finish.
It gives more energy, make you sleep better, feel better, less exhausted, better blood circulation, stronger bones etc etc!!!!!!!

Why not write about the effects of weightlifting and bloodpressure?

Those who lift understand it. Those who do not, think we are crazy!

A good one may be the benefits of resistance training on health problems. such as my wife's diabetes. With her being so much healthier, no need for insulin, she doesn't even check her blood sugars but once a week or so now. She is so much more in tune with her body. Getting in shape has helped many people stop taking blodd pressure medicine, and prescriptions in general they thought they may take the rest of their lives. Just a thought.

I'd write either about the benefits of weight training vs. cardio or about how fats don't make you fat. I feel like those are two issues that haven't disseminated into the general public and are both things that high school/college (I'm not sure which you're referring to) students would be interested. Your target audience is going to want to know how to 1) look better or 2) be better at sports. I think the former will appeal to a greater audience. Discussing trainings effect on your overall health is a good idea, but I don't think it's something that is on the mind of students. They'll be more encouraged to read your article if it is about an issue with some immediacy to them.

All of the above. Improves bone density etc.
There is really no limit to the subject.
As bb1fit says about blood pressure.....my wife was on medication, her bp was 170/80. the meds took it down. 6mths after she no longer uses meds and is 135/70. There another success story.
Good luck on the paper.

I like the idea about either lifting and the effects on blood pressure or that fats dont make you fat. I am really interseted in the fats dont make you fat because I see girls at school who try to loose weight by eating little and when they do eat is is lowfat or fat free stuff. It really drives me nuts. I am writing for a high school paper so I do need to target those in that age group. I

Some excellent fats are fish oils, flax oil, both high in healthy Omega 3 fats, walnuts are great, even natural peanut butter. Olive oil will help change your cholesterol ratio, which is key. You can have a low total number, but still have bad cholestrol. Olive oil helps raise the HDL level(good cholesterol). If you do a search for Omega fats on the internet, there is a wealth of info. www.barleans.com has a great amount of info on flax. Good luck, and great you are educating people out there.

Speaking of cholestrol...here is something funny. He is a guy(me) that goes in for a check up. I am fat I have a bellly yes but am I really that unfit? They put me on a scale I get off as it nears 315. They test the bloodpressure it is dead perfect,Hmmm? That raises an eyebrow. The resting pulse rate is in an athletic range, Hmmm? That rasies the other eyebrow. I get a sheet for blood tests, both the reg cholestrol and a lipid test. I wait for the results as is the doc they think I am sure that it will be bad. Lo and behold it comes back so good I am told to eat more "bad" cholestrol cause that number is to low. HA hahaha I had such a good laugh as they looked at me like I was a freak.

Good for you mutt! I always say, you can be healthy for your weight. Not everyone has to look like a bodybuilder. In fact, there are many "thin" people" out there that are in terrible shape healthwise! YOu are a poster child for health! Great to hear. As always, this stuff should be about the health aspect first and foremost.
