Thanks all! I even "made" my husband work out with me today...oh, you should of heard him whine, you'd think I was waxing his legs or something...but he did it, it was nice having him there even though he did threat to throw a dumbell at me if I didn't stop nagging him to stretch!

Hey, I don't see me on the inches lost...can I be on that one or is it too late? I thought it was just for inches gained. There is one for inches lost, isn't there, I'm new to this!

Congratulations on the motivation you're providing. Somebody's gotta do it. It's a dangerous world, especially with dumbbells flying around.

Veda-K, we are keeping our own inches lost count. There is a scoring system at the top of this post by me. Somewhere alog the way Danieljlove explained it too. If you can find it his post made more sense than mine. Its much easier to understand me in person because you can see the hand gestures.

LynndaMaree has checked in with an 8 pound weight shift in the right direction. I think she leads the pack kiddies. Yours truly is down 5 lbs. My abs are tighter thanks to the efforts of the princess. I know Veda-k is up near the lead here too so everybody better get moving.

Its time for the 2 week check in. Either post your own or IM me or Dani.

Helpless, here....:( I found your post, Charlie, I'm sorry, with all I've read in the past few weeks and been learning I had forgotten and when I skimmed over again, I missed it, I think I got it all now! I certainly won't win in the brains department, but I'm going to go buy a scale today - and weigh in at the mall scale I used just to be sure they are similar and then come back and post. Please, please, please, please let there be some weight loss!!! And, please, if you all could say a silent prayer for me -- I'm leaving to go to the cinema today, I haven't been to one since starting and the popcorn is to die for! Ohhhh, what am I saying, we're in competition here, the only prayer I'll be getting is one that asks that my starving stomach is fed plentiful and all it's cravings answered!

No prob. Be sure you read my other posts. Weight gain in the beginning is NORMAL. Size gain in the beginning is NORMAL. It will pass. The body can't beat you if you fight the fight correctly.

OK I tried my workout at 40% today. I did fine. I am rejoining the lifting competition. Because of my advanced geezer powers I will come back with 6 weeks left and whip all you wussies. I will also crosspost this in the trashcan so nobody misses it.

============
Quoting from charlie826:

I'm out of the lifting comp. I reinjured my back this weekend. I will however smoke you wussies in the weight loss comp. I am also staying in the BF comp because I will train as soon as my back clears...only lighter.

Okay, I can't put this off any longer....My points in inches lost is 42-------but, here it is...........my weight has not budged!!

I bought a darn scale today and it took me over an hour to get up the courage to get on it and then when I did I expected at least a 1 pound loss since I did well with the inches - but NOTHING! And, yes, I measured and re-measured THREE times with the inches, as I was soooo afraid I was seeing things or measuring different from the time before, etc., but I used to measure 50 women a day at the gym I worked for, so I'm fairly certain I did fine and was very careful. Anywhoooo, I am a bit bummed...it's been four weeks today since I started working out, though it's just been since the first I have really added the weights into my workout much more and changed to cardio after, but gosh, I've been cardio'in 5-6 days a week for 30-45 minutes strong and boxing for 20! I've cut my calories to 800 below what my daily calorie burn is, so between all that I was expecting better.

I have only in the last couple weeks gotten real serious about my eating habits, so hopefully I will see better results soon. With the scale here I can monitor better for a while, too. Well, enough whining, I know I should be happy with the inches but I'd sure like to see the scale drop, I even went to the movies and had NO pop and NO candy and just ONE handful of unbuttered popcorn (honest) then, I stopped at hubbies work and he asked me to bring them Sonic shakes, so I took the kids for shakes and brought some to his work and didn't order ANYTHING for myself, rather, I went grocery shopping for good food instead immediately after! So it was hard to see the weight staring me in the face still - all of it. I believe, and someone correct me if I'm wrong since it's been a while, but if I lost inches and didn't lose weight that maybe some of my fat is now muscle??? Just cut to the chase - be honest! My husband was surprised at my downcast spirit and when I told him I didn't lose a pound, he said he couldn't believe that as it looked as if I had lost more than a few.

I think I have been doing a great job staying on course here, but if I'm having to adjust something I'd sure like to! Oh, and I purchased some WHEY PROTEIN today! Well, I'll keep on pluggin' away....

Thanks, Charlie, I hope I'm not fighting a losing battle and I'm not doomed to this weight forever!

Great job everyone on your successes!!

Hello everyone, I lost 8 pounds this past two weeks. This puts me at a total of 28 pounds since February. I have started to really watch what I eat, I'm drinking my water and I also do a minumum of 60 mins cardio per day and I do resistance training with 5,10,& 15 pounds dumb bells at least 3 times per week. I even purchased the Billy Blanks Contact DVD with the punching bag. lol I finally can complete a whole workout without stopping to rest or wishing I had a oxygen tank handy. lol I would like to thank everyone for all their support when I first came to this site. I plan on posting more often, this is what keeps me motivated. Everyone have a great day and I wish you much success on your challenges.

Veda,

Hang in there. Although you don't transform fat to muscle in the beginning it is possible that you will gain some muscle while you lose fat and may not see as big a jump in your weight as you do in your inches (the inches are much more impressive). Personally, if I weighed 400 lbs, it would be fine as long as my fat percentage was healthy, and if I remember right you did see a drop in that. Look for the positives. Furthermore, Do you realize a liter of water weighs 2.2 lbs. Therefore, if you are drinking your water like you should be you probably were seeing some extra water weight due to the time of day you weighed. Get up in the morning, urinate and then immediately step on the scale. If it hadn't budged today you will probably see a 3-5 pound difference in the morning. That will be your dry weight. I use that weight to track my progress, because it is the most consistent.

Hang in there you are doing great.

Thank you, Daniel, I appreciate your positive and informative post! I will try the weighing in the morning. I am drinking so much water - I read you are to drink in ounces what your weight is in pounds (is that right?), I haven't gotten up that high yet, but I have been drinking a lot! I will try to keep the spirits up as I know that I am not looking for a quick fix, I want a permanent, healthy way of life and I am willing to go the long haul - just hope I find some loss soon, that would be inspiration in itself!

Congratulations, LynndaMaree !

Given the option I would take inches lost over weight loss any day. It's inches lost that gets you into the smaller dress sizes!:)

Thank you all, for being competitors you sure are kind!! Boy, the support here is unbelievable *sniffle*, what a great group of people!

Well, I also wanted to say, I got up at 5:00 a.m. and did what danieljlove suggested and it showed my weight at 225 on the nose?!? That is a THREE pound difference from weighing at 7:00 p.m. at 228. I had to rub my eyes to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Now, I don't know if that is considered weight loss or not - when I weighed myself when the challenge started I weighed at approximately 10:00 a.m. - so, just to see what my 10'ish weight may show, I went back in and weighed myself at 10:15 a.m. and it still shows 225! Can there really be such a difference? And, I swear I didn't move the little adjustment knobby on the scale!!!

So, I may of lost 3 pounds???????? I guess, though I hate scales, it may help me, not only with the challenge, but as a tool - now I have to get a bf monitor (I like the electrical ones you grasp) down the road, but will continue to use mybodycomp through the challange. Well, when the next weigh-in comes, I'll let you know what's happening here! Thanks again!

Anni313, congratulations on your 4 pound weight loss. That's great. I'm in the challenge for weight loss myself. My weight is down 8 pounds this first two weeks. I have also lost inches. I started at 309 and am now down to 281. I've lost a total of 28 pounds and one dress size. I have a son 32, and one 20 and they couldn't believe that I have a bicep now. It's still fat, but I do have muscle now. lol keep up the good luck.

Yey!!! That is super, Anni! WOW! You go girl!!

And, hi, again, LynndaMaree! Your loss is wonderful and I'll bet those boys are proud of you!! -- My 18 yo son brought me one of my favorite candy bars today, a Hersey's chocolate bar, of which I would only eat candy bars once every couple months, but when I did this would be it - anyway, he went to hand it to me to surprise me and then the look on his face was to die for...the realization that he was tempting me with chocolate after seeing me work so hard slowly crept upon him...we just laughed together and he said, "I guess that wasn't such a good idea, huh? I forgot." I told him to bring me fruit next time, lol!

It is nice to have our families smile at what we are accomplishing, isn't it! You keep it up, Anni and LynndaMaree, I think your awesome!

I went to mybodycomp.com this morning and entered my new measurements. It says that I've lost 2.27% in BF and 7.48" overall. Pretty cool. It has taken me 8 long months to get my body to give it up. I guess the Forest Gump routine works.

Congrats to all of you on your accomplishments!

Veda, when my 20 year old goes to McDonalds now, he automatically brings me back a grilled chicken salad with no fat dressing. It took him a while to stop asking me if I wanted a burger and fries, but thank goodness he now sees that I mean business. lol And yes, it it nice to see them smiling at our accomplishments. Three weeks into the challenge everyone... that's a third of the way. How's everyone feeling?

I am slightly put off, getting sick got me a slow start, and I've been super busy at work. Did my bodyfat comparison and found that I've actually lost some fat AND some lean muscle.. poo!

NOT giving up though, have my gym bag in the car and will go hit the weights no matter WHAT time I leave this darn office.

Wainglais, better known as Batman is down 9 pounds. Way to go man from Belmont which is very much like Gotham city in it's own way.

Everybody is welcome to post their own updates.

No change for me since my last post except in the posting department. I am 3 posts lighter since I've been deleted in the pro boards....3 times...but who's counting.. This is some kind of moderator revenge because somehow my brilliance was just too much for him. I'm not naming names but I do have my suspiscions. Of coarse all censorship is bad and I suspect that if Ben Franklin posted here this nameless mod would feel threatened and delete him too. Should I instigate a massive IM campaigne to put a stop to this senseless assault on my valuable contributions here?? Payback's a bitch you mean old censor! But I won't name names.

Weightloss=7lbs since the start or change of 2.5 %
Fat percentage is 18.64% for a change of 10.5%

changes where calculated by old number-new number/old number

I used stats from 5/29 for comparison, but can't remember which I turned in.

Weightloss since start = 5 lbs. (228 to 223)(still not movin' much, but probably realistic changes for me)
Bodyfat % now at 42.22% (started at 45.04%)
Inches lost total 17.5" (70 points, I believe) (This has been interesting watching in inches as for two weeks nothing lessened in some areas and then in two weeks later I saw results where I hadn't before, and then there are those areas that are refusing to budge - hips!)

What I am enjoying about this challenge (other than you wonderful, supportive members) is seeing my changes posted as it helps to remind me that something IS happening when I still feel like whale blubber! I have a lot to go, but I am finding it easier watching you all there with me! The changes you all are going through is superb and it is so awesome to see and be a part of!! I cannot thank you all enough for your knowledge and kindness and only hope you know I am rootin' for you all!!!

Good morning everyone. I have to confess. I sort of slacked up a bit with the exercise. I went to the walking trail yesterday for the first time in nearly three years. I usually do cardio in the house. Would you believe I only walked 2 miles and I wanted to crawl back to my car. I was to far on the trail to turn around. Those hills definitely kicked my fat butt. (smile) So you know what I'll be doing today. You got it, getting my big butt outside and walking those hills. I've been doing more resistance training. I couldn't believe it, I've lost 5 inches in my waist since we started this challenge. But I only entered myself in the weightloss part. Oh, well, at least I'm 5 inches down in the waist. Everybody keep up the good work. I can't wait to weigh in on Thursday, hopefully I will have lost a couple more pounds. Linda

well done on the inches lost, they're much more important than pounds! :)
