Well, I have about two months--until April 10th exactly--to shed 30 lbs. off of my 130 lb-5'7" frame. I want to be 100 lbs. by April 10th. Is there a way to do this? I need some pointers and any hints/comments you might have on this matter. Thanks!

That is does not sound like a healthy weight range for your height.

Fill out your profile and read "diet thread" in the specific diet and nutrition forum swiley. Filling out your profile will give people a much better understanding of who you are and what your goals are.

Blaze, you are beating people to death with the same question. Your punishment and reward, Read "diet thread" also.

Triple you want to lose an unhealthy amount of weight in a very short period of time....perhaps 10lb is doable....30 is not healthy....you seriously might/have an eating disorder and need to consult with your doctor...

No carbs 3 hours before bet
20-25g fiber, spread out equally during the day
bodyweight in protein, the more you cut into carbs make sure to substitute them with healthy fats(avacados, nuts, seeds, flax oil,etc)...also if you eat carbs...make sure they are complex kind(oats, buckwheat, black rice, yams, sweet potatoes, etc)
-aim to drink 0.5-.75gallons daily....
-aim to create a 300-500 caloric deficit through exercise and nutrition...mostly through exercise....

-take 6-10g of fish oil capsules daily....split morn/night

BUT SERIOUSLY ....CONSULT WITH YOUR DOCTOR....

You're not a top level super model at this point, there's no need to mess up your health for nothing....100lb at 5'7 is not just bad, it's horribly unhealthy....

Is it possible to lose 45 pounds in 32 weeks? I really need to lose this weight. I am wanting to get into the Army. I also want to make my husband think that I am attractive again.

krystal - you can, theoretically , lose 1=2 pounds a week. So, yes, it is probably doable. It will depend on how your metabolism is functioning now and what type of exercise routine you are following/how you are eating to support it.

I would worry more about getting up to the number of miles you will have to run when you get into boot camp than weight loss, though running and getting into condition for bootcamp should cause some weight loss on its own if you don't overcompensate by eating more.

Hopefully your husband loves you no matter what you weigh.

Third that :)

Most of that weight loss will come from your nutrition....so you really need to focus on that...as much as 75% I would say....

Running is definitely vital...both to lose weight and to build up the endurance if u're serious about enlisting...

Lifting heavy weights(keep in mind that this varies depending on your level....it's just intensity at which u train)using big exercises(squats, deadlifts , pull ups, dips, shrugs) would also help you....army tests pull ups, push ups, sit ups? so training them would also be a priority

The weight loss should be primary for yourself....out of your love for yourself...and maybe concern about being in an unhealthy state and trying to lead a more fitness oriented lifestyle....

Also wouldn't it be harder to see each other while in the army?

It is possible, I lost the 30 lbs in 4 months from 210 to 180. I am 6'2" guy. You just have to burn about 1000 excess calories per day. If your body needs 1500 calories, you need to spend 2500/day. I suggest running at least 1 hour a day/5 days a week and eating carefully..I ate at resturants every day for the 4 months that I lost the weight. Salad portions are big and low in calories...so start running...even if you don't meet your goal, you will get pretty colse to it...go for it!!!

Wow. Way to take in the fact that she already has a halted metabolism, the fact that SHE is female and 100lbs and 5 inches less than you, and the fat that distance running is one of the least effective forms of increasing metabolism and oxidizing fat.

I've heard of a calorie deficit...but man, that's a touch much! Please come back and say that's a typo.

Also he was somewhat overweight at his weight, while she's within her normal weight range...

man, 5 days of 1 hour running, is pretty brutal...

I think she's at that point where mary kate and lidndsy lohan would hand feed her if they saw her....lol

Would it be healthy for me to lose 50 to 60 pounds in 4 months with the right kind of diet and exercise? I'm eating fruits, nuts, vegetables, and fish. I'm starting to exercise 1 to 2 hours a day. I've already lost like 10 pounds. But for some reason I lose the most weight in my waist which is already small. What can I do to shed a considerable amount of wieght off of my thighs, legs, and arms? Please Help Me!!!!!!

Hi 60 pounds sounds like your off to the right start.as far as shedding the pounds from a specific area...it's not gonna work.Sounds like you have a pear shape and your trouble spots will forever be the lower body.Just keep at it...you can do specific exercises to tone your trouble areas(use the fit buddy at the bottom of the page...loads of exercises)but you will never spot reduce.50-60 pounds in 4 months is an unreasonable goal.don't think of yourself as being on a "diet",think you are changing your entire fitness out look and it's easier to stomach that you have to maintain better goals.search through the forums...read all of the stickies and you'll understand why I say this.Good luck to you...and welcome to FT!

i dono, i disagree with you can only loose 1-2 lbs / week. 2 years ago i used to be around 220 lbs and within 2 months i was down to 190. i used to take a fat burning pill (hydroxycut) and do cardio empty stomach 4 times a week and weightlifting 3 times a week. since then, my weight has never went over 200 lbs and i've maintained it for over 1.5 years. i cut my calories down to 1800 / day, and ate healthy. although i am very active and play quite a bit of sports. loosing the weight might have been unhealthy, but i never felt better about myself. moreover, i maintained what i lost. everyones different, but thats my way of looking at it.

Youe are right...that's 30 pounds in 2 months an average of 3.75 pounds a week...a higher than average, but the more you have to lose the faster it will come off at first. It would be much easier for a women of my same height and age to lose 10 pounds that weighed 220 than it would be for me.I merely suggest that you maintain attainable goals. If you start off believing you are going to lose 15 pounds a month...and you don't..it can be dicouraging. If you lose 30 pounds in two months AND can keep it off....that's fabulous, but I believe that is an acception to the rule. For others that are new to fitness to beieve this is the rule and something they should expect could be disappointing.

Hmmm...I think every girl who is five seven or five eight should be happy with their weight at 130-135. I'm five seven and I weigh 145. Yep. I'm not in shape but I really don't care about the pounds. I just want to get rid of excess fat and tone up. I really don't care about being oh so skinny you can see all my bones in my body. To me that is unatractive and inhealthy. So, girls who want to be super models, screw it. It doesn't make you happy being so skinny. Just be happy with who you are and shape up. Not be soo skinny you can see through you...just a pointer.

hi HR29, please fill out your profile and post this again as a new post, not on 1 thats a year old. I can tell you from a weight stand point is that Diet and exercise is the only way to lose weight, there is no miracle drugs, pixie dust nor any lil leprechaun with a bucket full of gold, only thing at the end of the rainbow is a happy healthy teenage girl with her whole life ahead of her, get in shape now, dont wait like some of us till we are sick or longer in the teeth than you...

Good luck

I know this is an old thread but the one picture in your profile disturbed me. This is a site advocating health and it's upsetting for me to see a "glamorized" version of a woman with her bones sticking out. I'm not trying to offend, I just think it sends a negative message.

I also felt like your second picture seemed like you were too thin for your body size. I hope you are staying healthy and not putting your life in danger to look that thin. I am recovered from eating disorders now for about 4 years. It is always a constant battle to not want to eat just to lose those few pounds, or to get rid of it. I now exercise 5 days per week and eat veggies and lean meats and I am a healthy 142 pounds at 5'6.6" tall. I started lifting weights and now I feel even better when I was at 112 pounds.

I have am 145 pounds and I am told that I look like I weigh 130 pounds. I am happy about that, but I hate the fact that I weigh more than I look. If I can loose 15 pounds I can look good and be at a healthy weight. I think. I am not interested in being a skeleton I just want my body back.

I'm 18 5'3 and weigh about 185. I would like to lose at least 30 pounds before December. Is this possible, and how do I do it. I don't know how to "eat healthy". I eat veggies and stuff, but I think I eat too much. How do I know the correct proportions?

No honey!!!! You are at a perfectly healthy weight. If you weigh 95 pounds, you will be depleting your body of the nutrients it needs to get there. Consult your doctor (and parents) about a healthy weight and diet to get there but don't try and be something that you are not and cannot handle.

Hello,

I want to loose atleast 25 pounds in 3 months. I weight 150lb, 5'10 , 24 years old. I walk one hour 3 to 4 days a week.

I have cut down junk food. I try to eat 6 healthy meals a day under 1500 calories( one meal of the day is fruits). I want to know if this is a right track for me?

I am not trying to be just skinny, i want to look fit and healthy and have some abs and muscles.

You might get sick of too much weight loss...130 lbs in your height is appropriate. Just maintain your weight as it is.
