Ok, I have herd many arguments from working out in the morning. I want to get your opinions and feedback from this.
Many articles once said that, if you work out in the morning, you will burn 300% more fat in your body, since of course, your body does not have any supply of carbs due to fasting for atleast 8 hours. Yes, this is true.
But in another article I read that fat is the LAST thing that the body wants to burn itself off with to be used as energy. The three sources of energy are muscle carbs and fat.
Now lets say you work out in the morning, you dont have a supply of carbs in your body, so you will be burning fat right?
This is what lots of articles assume, but to my comsumption fat is the last thing it wants to burn itself off with, so whats left in the morning? MUSCLE!
Cause in another article it said that you will be burning muscle instead of fat in the morning.
The article also mentions that the best time to work out is after your weightlifting program because you ran out of carbs, and you ran out of the glucose to fill in your muscle, so any other cardio activity afterwords THEN will be used to fat....now this makes sence to me..
whats your opinion? Do you think if you work out in the morning, you will be burning fat or that poor old muscle tissue?

I almost always workout in the morning before working out. In the last 3 months I have added almost 1 inch to my biceps...so for me it works.

As you said EGchic, different opinions about this subject.
I think there IS a big risk of catabolising in the morning when exercising with empty stomach. What you can do is to take some glutamine or a protein shake (mixed with water) before training.
Personally I do cardio on empty stomach (but I only do 35 mins) When I weight train (and always early in the morning for me) I take a protein shake before.

If you are contest dieting very strictly and have a decent amount of bodyfat to lose, then yes, working out on an empty stomach is good. You may do as I do, either have a good amino acid profile drink or simply load up adequately on high quality BCAA's before and during. This is a simple trick that lets your body see an abundance of BCAA's and so it assumes it is already breaking down muscle tissue, so instead puts you in a positive nitrogen state. If trying to gain, of course never ever train on an empty stomach. You do not have to eat a huge meal, just good quality nutrients.
