Well there are many different theories on how long to wait before training a muscle group. Free trainers here emphasizes the 1 week waiting period. I myself think that that is the perfect amount b/c even though your muscles aren't sore anymore they are probably still repairing and growing so they need more time. i have also heard people say train them every other day. I have also heard that it is best to wait weeks. Never train the same muscle group 2 days in a row with heavy weights. I would say go with the week rest.

Depending on the stress you cause the muscle, it takes 3-4 days for a small muscle group to recover and up to 7 days for a big muscle group like the legs. You have different form of recovering, not only the muscle but also in the brain (!!). Read the articles in here about this subject.
Sore muscles is a sign of that you have been working out well. Yes, sometimes the pain can be stronger (like in the calves!! auch!!) Drinking enough water, massage, vitamin C etc can help you to recover faster.

I think 5 to 7 days is pretty optimal for the natural bodybuilder. Even though you may not feel "sore" anymore, does not mean your muscle is still not repairing. If you can maybe relate it to the analogy of a small cut on your finger, it is in some ways what you do to a muscle, put minute tears in it. If you keep using this finger over and over without letting it rest, doesn't it take forever to heal?

Sorness is normally part of weightlifters. But you should only feel sore about a 0-10 after your workout, if it goes pass that time, your form either isnt done properly or your over training...
I prefer training smaller muscles twice a week and large mucles once a week
remember, the most important part of geting big muscles, is that resting period!

I usually feel the soreness go away after 2-3 days, depending on the workout. But this week I hit the back vey hard and even though it is 3 days ago I still feel it so a week is good for me. Try out a few different rest lenght to find out what works for you.
