When you feel them burning its working, if you want it to still hurt the next day have someone hit you in the bisep as hard as they can lol sorry could'nt resist. Otherwise keep going it should take more weight or more reps to make them burn the next time so up the anty. I find the only time muscles still hurt a day or two after is when they have'nt been worked in a while. I am into tonning at the moment I curl with 10 lb weights 60 reps rest 1 min 60 reps -------------- Never be afraid to try something new. Try maybe preacher curls... or concentration curls.. these usually blast my biceps.. but I usually throw in a second exercise with them to help... |

Excentric or negataive training is the key word for fast growing muscles and in this case, biceps. It's not the exercise itself but the WAY of doing it. You'll probably need somebody to help you because it can be tough to do it alone. Curl your arm normally but control and strengthen your arms very veeeeery slowly. This hurts I know. If you got a biceps machine then you can use it as well. It really burns and that's why you'll need somebody next to you. Lots of discipline is needed....... preacher curls,barbell curls,dumbell curls my goals are just a couple inches on the bicep they are only 14 inches.... |

Yes I agree with Philia...Its all about contraction and the speed at which you do it. I will contract my biceps in about 1 second time, and take 3-4 seconds to lower it. Thats where you will feel all the stress. By the end of your last set, if you arent feeling a good burn after you drop the weights, you arent doing it hard enough. I usually feel 2 great burns right dead center in the middle of my biceps. I take muscles to failure ALL the time when i work out. On your last couple reps, hold the weight at the point you feel the most stress, and just grip the bar as hard as you can and hold the weight there until you absolutely cant. Usually on my 5th set I will do that. Then I will do one additional bicep exercise to get all the juice out of it. :) Its not the first 8 reps that are important, its the last 2 that you really burn up and tear the muscle with. |

if you want to get serious burn with biceps try getting someone to lightly press on the middle of the bar. I stress LIGHTLY because you don't need much. and keep them slow.
