haha @ the nina thing... anyway i'm not sure.. usually just going w/ freetrainers and working at things until I get them right is enough.. but the only thing I ever saw someone say about a trainer was that to see if they making a workout for YOU or are they pulling a workout out of a pile of other workouts they made for clients in the past who might be roughly at the same starting point (with them) as you.... other than that I dun0..

Lol you're sweet jnellie!!!!
A personal trainer has to work with YOU and not after his or her own head (which unfortunately often is the case), your goals, your body type, your diet, your age etc etc
She or he has to ask you a lot of questions to know all those things about you (so don't be surprised).
Everybody should get a personal trainer once in a while to follow and measure your body composition etc Money spend on a good thing. Now Jnellie, please keep us updated!!

I had the same thing at a local health club last year. I found the trainers to be on the uninformed side as to nutrition and geared to the "fat burning" programs rather than building. The gym's vary tremendously, the local Gold's staffs outstanding people that look like body builders as opposed to the book worm types I experienced. I ended up listening to their guidelines and then buying Schwarzeneggers Encyclopedia of Modern BBing. They were also happy to push "Muscle Milk" there, junk IMO with a load of fat grams per serving. I'm really more at home in the YMCA, very serious pumpers there with a wealth of experience. Its a tight crowd that works out at 5:30 am, they share knowledge easily. I had a difficult time finding spotters at the clubs, not so now. Some clubs are just social gathering spots, look into their reputation among the pumpers that you know before the ink hits the contract.

Yes most at the big clubs are really just trained sales people. I was with Bally's for my first year in training many years ago. I now work out where 2 of the MR. O hopefuls train, very down to earth bunch but they know their stuff. I would rather train there than any where else anyday

Jnellie, how does your trainer do your bosyfat composition. My new trainer uses 3 skinfold method which seems to put my bodyfat percent 4% higher than my last trainer. She used the 6 skinfold method. Just wondering which one is more accurate.
