I'm on a fat loss plan right now and it seems that after a while my metabolism has slowed and so have my results. How can I give my metabolism a real boost up there and start losing fat again?

short of taking some pharmaceuticals to increase thyroid function (NOT suggested), the best thing to keep your thyroid happy and metabolism up is to increase your number of meals per day, i.e., 6 small meals vs. 3 big ones. by doing this, your thyroid will not register a flux in insulin and caloric intake, and therefore will not slow down your metabolism. plus, it takes energy to digest, so by eating more frequently, albeit maybe fewer overall total kcals, the body must work that much more in order to digest the food that is consumed.

If you've been following the same basic diet, try changing it somehow: maybe lower the amount of calories, or maybe the proportion of carbs/proteins/fats. Maybe you need to increase the amount of cardio you do. It'd be really cool if you filled out your showcase profile.

More lean muscle mass and HIIT cardio will help boosting up your metabolism as well. Good luck.

I thought that was also a very thought provoking comment, it took a great deal of effort to pull out a gem like that one.

I was able to "speed" things up a little in my last 12 week rotation by mixing up my nutrient ratios a little and cycling my calories. In fact, my last 12 week rotation was my most successful. Calorie cycling takes work and focus, but it's worth if as you are paying such close attention to the foods you ingest, you ultimately can find a culprit that might be sabotaging your goals.
Currently I'm doing 50% protein/30% carbs and 20% fat with a cycle around 1900 average calories per day (note 1900 is for MY size/weight - you need to assess your own minimum caloric needs).
A little extra intensity in the cardio will help too. Like Philia suggested, HIIT is a good way to rev up. I do my HIIT's on a stepmill right now, but mix that up with treadmill and cross country running too. Getting those high points is awesome.
