I am not one to usually whine about pain to anyone (except my boyfriend) but i was woken up this morning at 2 am with this terrible sinus headache. and i mean this one is bad, no pill is taking it away and even closing my eyes all the way to work did not suffice it. does anybody out there have any relief suggestions that i can try?

Thanks everyone!!!

so kinda like making it into a steam room? that sounds great!! I never thought of that. I will try it and let you know how it turns out.

Thank you jnellie! how is the Chiro doing?

Here is what I do it helps some. One is to do like jnellie said and the other is to snort up hot water to clean out the sinus cavity (this also helps with allergy problems). Not a lot of water casue it can fill it up if you do not blow it all out, and that is bad...good luck!

LOL yeah you would like that! The thing is with sinuses is that the snot is like glue up there the warm water wash it out and can help rduce the pressure.

lmao @ mutt. Tell it like it is big guy. hehe I guess I would opt for the ol' sinus medicine. It's not quick but, effective. Plus Ravenbeauty, you use something with a antihistamine in it, you'll fall back to sleep easier.

wheewwww, that wouldn't be a bad idea ravenwolf, you only work 6 blocks away...LOL. hhmmm.....

yeah, yeah Mutt!!!

Chili cook off is over and I won for the spiciest!!!! Had a lot of goods to eat and still this headache is not gone. I went into the bathroom and did the MUTT thing!!! (so no one would see me) it cleared it up a little, but it's still there. I would hate to be like this tonight with all the little kiddies trick o' treating everywhere. WHHHHaaaaaa!!!!

Okay I am done now.

Jnelli and DP I think I am going to do yours next, plus wht ravenwolf had PERSONALLY suggested, a hot cloth over my head.

Ok...I'm da sinus pro!!

Fist off go to the pharmacy and buy sinutab xtra stregnth.
Take 2 with 1 extra stregnth tylenol or motrin or something like that!
Take a face cloth or towel and make it as hot as you can take it.
Place it over your eyes and cheeks and a little over your nostrils and then just relax.
It will take about 20-25 minutes or 5-6 times of re-heating the towel, and you will get the cavities open.
At least you won't drown!
What ever you do stay lying down after for about another 20 min.
Works on my worst sinus pains!
There is also another product by prescription its called
Flonase or Beconase. It will take away the problem thats giving you the blockages!
OR as the DR says.... Take 2 asprins and call me in the morning!

I would like to thank all of you for your posts, they help a lot, after all the walking around and trick o treating with my little one, my headache is gone. now i don't know if that was because it is 18 degrees and i am too numb to feel the pain....LOL. But still I got a lot of good advice from you Jnellie, Mutt, DPking, Carivan and my BEST MAN, RAVENWOLF. thanks all!!!

If interested in the chili recipe, please let me know and i will post it in the appropriate place, it is very lowfat, with the exception of not using the beer.....LOL.

welcome dp, the chili is posted now. it was really great! but for those who can't handle medium/hot chili, this might need to be toned down a bit.. it is in the diet forum.

Hi ravenbeauty, I know where you are comming from I suffer from sinus headaches often sometimes to the point of getting sick if I don't fix it quickly, I have two remidies that work well for me I use ice on my forehead & eyes for 15 min. than weight 20 min laying down in dark room with eyes closed perfectly still. then message a little bit of Tiger Balm into the centre of your fore head. Take great care to stay away from your eyes. good luck.
P.S. for general headaches or even migrains Tiger Balm messaged into the temple region works great too.
