Why that? You know sooooooo much preperation (and suffering!!) for at least three months for ten minutes on stage...... BUT IT'S STILL WORTH IT!!!!

People often think that we must be lunatics to go through all this but it still gives one sort of weird satisfaction.... I'll never regret starting doing competitions. I don't know for how long I'll continue but it's still a great experience to have.

I never really thought of myself as a "bodybuilder"...but rather a weight trainer. So, I've never given competition much thought. Besides, I think I'm too old...

Me!.. less than 6 months to go.. :)

Competition is a great way to take fitness to the next level. I recommend it to everyone whom is slightly interested. No matter what place you earn, you will learn so much about your body and how nutrition and exercise truly function.

Philia: do you have any pics from the show to share with us? :)

Hmmmm ... I've been toying with the idea. @ the moment, I'm doing a pseudo pre-competition diet, to see what I actually look like dieted down. <grin> Then I'm gonna compare my bod with the other female bb's @ the Quebec provincials ... should prove motivating!!

thanks for remembering us, nina (LOL)....

you're right too, nina, how some may view us as lunatics, but these are the same people that just don't understand self-sacrafice, dedication, and the mind-set of competition. i have never regretted competeting: there is nothing like the high you get from being on the platform, hearing the cheers and knowing all eyes are on you; then you defeat the weight, overcome gravity, and successfully "pull the pounds" and set a new PR. UGH! im getting chills all over again! do i miss it? yes, alot. and i wouldn't change it for the world.

best of luck to you..........

Lol you know a thing that was just tooooo funny when I did my competition?!! I was the only one (between almost 50 athletes) who jumped and did some weeiiiirrd shaking butt movements when I did my 1 1/2 min of free posing.
People just love it and for the rest of the evening the audience kept screaming "Jump nina, jump Nina!!!"
That was just too hilarous.

Ah well, a little craziness in this world is often needed.

George, I already posted you a pic!! (o:

About all the preperation, it's a lot harder that you can ever imagine. You are often very tired, feel weak, hungry and veeeeery grumpy since you know that you cannot do or eat what you want to because of this darn strict diet (and it just makes you maaaaaad!!). But when the competition day finally comes, one is sooooo proud of having done (and being able to do!) all that work (and suffering!).

It's still worth it all.... and everybody can do it.

I am going to go through another full program here, see what kind of gains I can make, then I'll decide if I want to compete. I'd really like to. Even without lifting I am a pretty big mofo (6'2 215) It doesn't sound like alot but most people would disagree in person.

I think I would like to compete one day. It's hard for me to fit in working out on some days because I'm working two jobs (one full-time, one part-time). But soon I'll be going back to school to finally get my degree in engineering and hopefully I'll have a little more time to dedicate to working out.

I thought I would not this year but I just had a friend compete at two show with Two 1st places and a 2nd and on to the Nationals...so now I got the itch to compete at a show with her in Oct..

Just go for it Leslie, you got all the best potentiel and it's always great to win.

October gives you enough time to plan everything (and still have some fun during the summer).
