Do you have shin splints?
You should get it checked out by a doctor - rest and ice might help if it is shin splints (and some massage/stretching the area) but you can't know unless you see a professional.

would i have to go to the doctor or would a pro trainer help?
sometimes i feel like my dr is an idiot he told me my daughters hips hadn't formed properly and after extensive tests and quite a few $$ later she was found to be perfectly normal.

The thing about Dr's is that they are human and don't know everything all the time. Sometimes it's better to be safe than sorry in the case of your shins and in the case of your daughter's hips. :)

And there is also more than one doctor in the world. I'm sure your insurance lets you choose from at least a couple of them....if he's an idiot find a new one.

Your shins wouldn't necessarily constantly hurt all the time if you wear the shoes all the time. You are performing different types of movements with them, some strenuous, some not and that can make the difference between the times they hurt versus when they don't. But..as asimmer said, it might be worthwhile to get them checked out.
On a side note, check out the shin splints thread in the injury forum and read up on that, it is a sort of check list to see if that is the actual problem.

I know when I run on the treadmill and the street, they are are totally diff. My shins would never hurt after a few miles on the treadmill, but they would kill the next day after running in the street. Maybe your getting a high impact excerise playing netball that your not getting in the gym.

You are so right teeup. I can walk for miles and miles in the gym. One day I decided to take a walk over my lunch hour and got a few blocks away and almost had to call for a ride back because my shins hurt so bad!

it hurts while i'm running on the streets or playing netball. and for a while after, i went running yesterday and today my shins are fine after waking, but they hurt while i was running up to when i went to bed.
