Hi folks,
Everything I read about weight-training says a session should last 1 hour max - apparently any longer and catabolism(get thee behind me satan) sets in. However, every time I read some guy's training program, he's doing like 25 to 30 sets in a session. I was under the impression you're meant to rest for approx 90 seconds between sets. There is no way you can do 30 sets in an hour, even without warm-up and warm-down! My question is: how long do you guys really workout for, INCLUDING warm-up/down? be honest now.

I can do my workout in 40 minutes depending on what I am doing. Most people rest 30-60 seconds between sets...and yes I have done 12 sets for chest and 14 sets for triceps in a hour, when I used to do that.

Mine usually takes about an hour... sometimes 70 minutes with some stretching afterwards. I don't warm up for long, usually about three minutes.

I meant to add my rest periods will vary depending upon my routine. Sometimes 30 seconds... sometimes two minutes. Also depends on how fast I can workout the math in my head when changing plates. ha...

Usually 45 minutes for me. Yesterday I did 3 minutes of warm up, 1-2 warm up sets per ecercise then 20 total working sets. All done in 49 minutes

I'm usually at the gym for 1hr to 1:15, mainly because that's how long I get for lunch. I'd say the actual wt training takes me 45-50min, so the extra time is warm up and cool down.
