i would love to see people get out 6 reps at 90%... if you can... then its not really your 90%. he is right bout focusing on all those other parts too becuase they increase your stabilization and make it so you dont hurt yourself. as for chest exersizes, do a variety of barbell and dumbell bench variations such as reg flat bench, some board presses, floor presses etc. you should also focus a lot on your triceps to build those using things like close grip press and dips. good luck and check the powerlifting forum at top for the stickies on things like ME bench day... this will help give you some ideas.

IMHO the best way for your bench to go up is to squat. Mine didn't go up hardly at all for a year, but I started going very intense on legs and it shot up real quick. I also started doing a lot more decline bench instead of flat bench.

Females can sometimes do 6 reps at 90%, as well as untrained individuals and endurance athletes. This is due to muscle fiber make up.
Id say the deadlift helps even more. It helps fix imbalances created by bench press specialty programs, as well as develops awesome upper body strength.
