yeah..I know that now lol. I kinda had the tough chick going on at the time and I didn't really care. That is until I saw my knuckles :(

wow..they do look more complicated. Thanks gg! Ima practice them at home first see which ones I can do. I have relatively small hands.

Thanks GG! Next time I feel like I'm on rambo-chick mode, I'll remember to wrap them things up first.

I hope that helps you and everyone hitting a bag or anything with their hands should have a look!....Not a very smart move on your behalf cupcake you should know by now that a wall or a heavy bag will always win haha....I wont hold that against you.

While Tmanns method would work and it does, I wouldnt recommend it because a lot of people I know who have tried it have hurt their arms doing so by hurting tendons and such, Especially if you throw hooks/uppercuts with with they are ok if you just want to throw some jabs or straights but other than that I wouldnt go with them.

But if you dont mind me asking what do you need to hit harder for?

My suggestion would be get a punching bag and a set of heavy gloves like 16-20oz gloves and some HAND WRAPS <--CANT STRESS THAT ENOUGH!!!! and punch the bag with them or shadowbox with them on. Because since you have the heavier gloves on when you take them off or put on lighter ones your fists will fly and you wont have any damage done :)

Hey there rambo cupcake, be sure to leave your thumbs outside your fist. If you close your fist around the thumb you'll have a bad day. Also never turn your back on that big mean bag.

Ohh yeah good point charlie, I hope noone does that either lol, Something I have never done and I hope noone else does!....It looks intimidating but it is relatively easy, 3 tries or less and you should have mastered it...Be sure to wash them to or they will get all stained from the blood/sweat and get all wrinkly which is a pain to put on the next time...

I knocked my bag down on top of me twice now, broke the darn thing holding it up so now we are going to try to find a beam up in the ceiling to mount it directly to before I find myself unconcious!

hey, gg..I also got some bruises on the middle part of my fingers..uhm I don't know what it's called but it's the segment after your knuckle. gah I feel stupid..:( I have bruises on them too. I know I shouldn't but I need to ask a trainer on them, must be bad form.

I'll go over the site you sent and do exactly one of those, thanks

cupcake- if your fist is loose when you hit the bag, then you can bruise the various parts of the fingers. The loose fingers will slam and vibrate against each other when you make contact.

If you do any open hand strikes, make sure the fingers are relatively straight and held tightly together. For closed hand (fist) techniques, make sure that the fist is tight, the thumb is on the outside and tight against the middle section of the fingers (like the letter "s" in sign language). Also, make sure that when you hit with your knuckles, you hit with the first two knuckles (pointer and middle fingers). This way, you will have the two bones in the forearm involved in the punch.

Punch safely!

How are the bruised fingers doing? Have you made any changes that have helped? Did you figure out what the culprit was?

Do you have any personal trainers at the gym you co-own? If so, they would work for you and should be thrilled to help you in any way possible. (Just a thought. )

I use to punch the bag barehanded...until I put a hole in it, lol. Sometimes you just need your first to feel the pain/impact to get all the stress out.

Tell me something guys. For example you have two people with the same mass and speed but one of them is stronger-will he hit harder?I am asking because i think he should but the formula is power=massxspeed.

its not speed, its force = mass * acceleration

can't find an edit function, but you were thinking of momentum = mass * velocity

However in physics 201 we learn that
Kinetic energy = energy in the form of momentum.
Momentum = mass * velocity.

Mass * acceleration only gives you the force needed to achieve a certain velocity. However, an impact in the form of momentum is also a form of force (exerted).
If you hit a punching bag with a bowling ball of 5kg, and a baseball of 1kg, both moving at 5m/s, then the bowling ball will exert 25joules while the baseball will only exert 5 joules of force.

Physics is a fundamental part of kinesiology. :)
