I have been working out for sometime now and have seen positive results. The one thing I can't get rid of is the fat layer around my stomach though. I was going to try and do a lot of cardio this summer in conjunction with my workouts in hope to lose the extra fat. If I do a significant amount of cardio, will I be able to lose the fat and still be able to eat foods that I like? With being a college student, I don't really have the money to be able to buy and make healthy meals for myself all the time. Junk food is much cheaper and easier.

Junk food also stays put... and you'll eat way more of it than you would healthy food and meals... so, I don't think it's very cost effective... I understand the whole easy issue... but, there are ways around that... It'll cost you more in the long run for the convenience rather than just taking some time during the day to plan ahead...
Certainly there is a couple hours a week you can prepare ahead... perhaps invest in a slow cooker... dump all the ingredients in and 'voila!' you have a meal that's healthier than snack foods once you get home... prepare some items before bed and it'll be there in the morning... diet is key... a person CAN live on potato chips for the rest of their lives, but it wouldn't be a healthy way to survive... although, you'd certainly get your caloric intake quickly....

For starters, when I try to eat healthier food it doesn't feel me up. You are right about if u eat junk food u will eat more of it. That's seems true with me. It seems like though, if I go a couple of days without eating, that I am really hungry and I have to load up on the junk food to satisfy the cravings.
One other thing I was curious about, is it better to eat smaller meals or just eat a couple of big meals in a day? Thanks for your help

Regular small meals definitely better - keeps your metabolism revved up. Not all healthy food is expensive either - when I was a student I used to spend what would probably be about $10 now a week on food and I ate really healthily. Have a look at bb1's "grocery list for a bodybuilder" in the diet/nutrition section for ideas. I promise you that lentils and oatmeal cost a lot less than junk food and your body will be grateful for it.

Oatmeal - cheap! and filling. Eggs - cheap! Tunas - cheap! Sweet potatoes - Cheap! Vegetables (frozen, sometimes fresh) Cheap! Apples - cheap!
The cost of diabetes or coronary artery disease or some other diet related illness - expensive!
Don't look for the easy way out and make poor excuses for poor dietary choices. If you really want results, you know the drill.
Not being filled up means you are eating the wrong ratios and not often enough, most likely. Eat 5-6 smaller meals a day and include lots of vegetables, some rice or oats or sweet potato, lean protein and a little fat. Should keep you full for 2 1/2 - 3 hours, when it is time to eat again.
Nothing is worth more than your physical well-being. There is a reason it is called 'junk' food.

I'm with Asimmer. I think health food - especially fruits and vegetables are really cheap. I mean, for the cost of a snickers bar ($0.69-$0.99) you could get a pound of bananas, apples, or pears. Kiwi's are usually around $0.20-$0.50 each. And I'm pretty sure a pound of anything will fill you up. So trying to justify buying junk food because it's cheaper is a bunch of crap - kinda like the food itself...

1 bag of brown rice.. $1.39
28 oz can of crushed tomatoes.. $2.49
1 lb. extra-lean ground beef.. $1.99
5 nutritious healthy meals = $5.87 plus tax or about $1.20 a meal.
1 Big Mac meal = $5.39
Made this on Sunday, packed into 5 ziploc food bags along with my cottage cheese and fruit baggies. Take one to work each morning, throw it in a bowl at work and nuke.. lunch for a week (and it's yummy!!)
