I was wondering if anyone can give me some motivation tips. I am the type of person that has fads on exercise but never seem to be able to stick to something more more than a few weeks, i have a gym membership so it is quite frustrating as i am wasting a lot of it. My main downfall is feeling tired after work and therefore not going.
Please help

Just do it. Have a picture in your mind of what you want to happen as you progress through your fitness and lifestyle. Some even put a picture of themselves on the fridge so they can see how they are...
I keep saying to myself, "do I want to have a great level of health and fitness? Am I gonna get it sitting on the couch?"
Whatever works for you... others will have lots of tips on motivation here too...

you might try having to meet someone there - that usually helps - just knowing you can't call a cancel & usually when you get there you can say Ok I'm going to workout for 10 minutes & then see if I can keep going - I can usually talk myself into another 10 minutes & then another

I strongly agree with the workout partner theory, having someone rely on you gives you a lot of motivation, also, find some picture of what you want to look like. hang em up somewhere, and when you get back from work, look at these pictures, then yourself in the mirror, and seriously critique your body. Hope this helps some.

Don't even think that you are tired. Go straight to the gym, change and begin to do some cardio. By the time that you are done doing cardio you will have energy. That is the way I do it. I am also tired after a long day at work but I think of how I want to look and also of the improvement that I have done. Good luck

Is after work your only option? I am pretty much worthless in the evening so I only do my workouts late when I have to. If you have some alternate times that you could go to the gym, you should see if it makes a difference.
If your motivation issue lies more in committing to a fitness routine, then you might want to try analyzing why it is that you seem to stop short of your goals. For me, the pride I feel in myself when I push the outside influences and stresses that cause me to make excuses not to stick to my routine is great motivation.
But, that is just me, I hope you find yours soon!

The partner/commitment thing is one sure way to break through.
Or, picture that commercial with the two versions of the lady in the jogging suit, a heavier one going "c'mon, skip it, let's just lay on the couch" and the trimmer version yawning, tying on her gym shoes and heading down the driveway.
How bad do you want it? You have to make a conscious decision in your head not to be that person anymore.. to live an active healthy lifestyle. When you want to go home and lay down, stop and say no, that's what I USED to do.
First you'll feel like a different person.. then, you'll like one too!!

I had the same problem sometime ago, thats why I always worked out on/off and never really got into it. However this site itself has been a great motivation. Now Im addicted to working out and actually get excited on my workout days. I go to college and work so I know what you mean about being tired.
My suggestion is to sign up to a program in here or somewhere. Make no excuses for yourself and follow it, no matter how tired you are and keep telling yourself you MUSt do it so you'll feel bad if you dont. You will feel better after you done the exercises and imput what you've done to the database. Dont count how many more days you got left, that demotivates you. Hanging around these boards can also help, its like hanging around with a bunch of people addicted to football/games/music/ whatever, that in turn motivates you for sure. I mean Im no sheep or anything but I usually get into what my freinds are into only cos its like constantly being shoved in my face. Thats what these board does, shoves fitness in your face big_smile:
