Hey all. Just wanted to tell you that last night I went to the gym with my hubby and worked out with the weights for 1/2 hour. I feel great!! This morning my arms are SORE and I look forward to working out again tomorrow. It was a lot of fun. Also, wanted to know if this sounded alright...working out every other day at the gym, and on the in between days doing pilates to stretch things out. That work??

Congratulations to you. Does feel great, doesn't it? What you propose will be fine to start out, but after a while, you will probably want to split that workout up into more separate body parts instead of a full body workout. Be careful about wanting to do too much, I know in the beginning it is exciting, kind of like starting a new job, but you know how that feeling goes away. Take it slow and easy, avoid burnout. Remember, this is a lifestyle change, so you have the rest of your life to do this and be healthy. I have seen many folks get so gung ho in the first few weeks that they burn themselves out very shortly. Don't make this mistake. Congratulations again.

I know what it means to burn out on this..I've done it before. This time I am starting out with light weights and trying to use the pyramid...12..10...8. Until we can afford to actually go to a professional gym, I will be using the weights at our apartment. There is a lat machine, overhead press, benchpress, bicep curl, and a machine to work your quads. I am also walking there and back which is a total of about 15 minutes. My motivation in this isn't just myself this time also, I have to be the "bad guy" so my husband will go and strengthen his back and abs due to his back injury...so I can't just give up on myself this time, because if i do that I will be letting him down and possibly damaging his future. I don't think I'm gonna be giving up this time.

Great to hear, wonderful healthy lifestyle for you both. Congratulations again to you, and kudos on being the "bad guy"! Nothing more gratifying than helping yourself, and someone you love along with it.

ANGELSNOW ASKED FOR AN UPDATE, SO HERE IT IS. TY AND I SLACKED AFTER WE FOUND OUT HIS BACK PROBLEM NEEDS THE CHIROPRACTER. MY DILEMMA WAS THAT I DON'T WANT TO TAKE TIME AWAY FROM HIM, SO I WOULDN'T GO TO THE GYM UNLESS HE WENT WITH ME. WELL, I DON'T CARE ANYMORE. I TAKE MY WORKOUT CLOTHES WITH ME TO WORK, AND HIT THE GYM BEFORE I EVEN GET TO MY APARTMENT. THAT WAY, I DON'T KNOW IF TYLER IS HOME OR NOT, SO IT DOESN'T EFFECT MY WORKOUT. BEEN DOING IT EVERY DAY THIS WEEK, AND FIND THAT IT MAKES GOING TO THE GYM SOOO MUCH EASIER.

Good job prioritizing, cristalbelle!!! You will be a better caretaker because you take the time to workout. It is not selfish or bad, it is the best way for you to relieve the stress of being a caretaker and to make yourself healthier and stronger. You go, girl!:love:
