My question is how do you go about shocking your muscles into new growth and how to know when you should shock your muscles? and how often?

to shock your muscles, wi ould say do this only if you see no gains, or your strength has not increased in a while, or your "stuck" at a certain weight ex. 200lb bench press. I wouldn't due this too often maybe once a month per muscle group to switch things up a lil bit. After you do shock them or whatever make sure you have a few days off oafter that cause they wil need the rest.
many ways to shock a muscle
change the weights and or reps drasticly...istead of doing 10 reps do 15 or 20
going tell falilure, then doing "pulses" do a macnine excerices till all you can do is contract the muscle and barly move the stack
run the plates.
do a set of 50 lbs till failure, then drop to 40lbs till failure, then 30 so on and so on
doing 10 sets of 10 any excercise( only 1 excercise though per muscle group)
21's .......for biceps
super sets
doing flys, with bench press back to back
back to back super sets
doinga antagonsit body part in you "rest" period.ex. tbar rows, then bench press, then t bar rows, then bench press or triceps press downs with alt. dumbell curls
circuit trainging
many more I can't name them all sorry lol
shocking is doing somthing to the muscles that they are not "used to" so if you do low reps, shock them by doing high reps..and vice versa hope I helped out a lil bit

Good post BigAnd...supersets and varying the weight and reps(drastically for one week or so) have been the catalyst for me over the years. That along with insuline spiking(had to plug it)will help you over that hump JustinE22.

well thanks for the info guys i read it and i think it will help me if i reach a plateau (that is probably spelled wrong) but anyway i am glad i joined free trainers i have really learned a lot.
-------------- i bealieve in the concept of mind over matter. i believe that a person is only as strong as their mind and their body is just the shell, the work horse, the blunt instrument to get the job done, however, if your mind is strong you can keep your body strong. when i am tired i tell my body to F*** off, because i believe that when i am tired its just my boddy telling my mind to stop. then i go untill i cant go any further, and then i go one more time. i am on my quest to be the biggest bad-A$$ out there, a physical specimen, a supreem being.

It says in muscle and fitness that you can do 21's for any bodypart, not just the biceps.

Yes, this is true, as well as any type shocking method you would like to use. I would suggest taking a lagging muscle and using a varying shock treatment on it at a time. After doing this, then do some maintenance on that particular muscle and go to shocking another. Overshocking will inhibit growth.
