Oh. My. God. All I did was the 20 minute warm-up, learned my punches, and drilled for a bit. My thighs are killing me and I can't feel my shoulders. I'm sure they're there, I just can't move them.

This rocks.

Cool - but I'm not going to join you - boxing is one thing I never consider doing but I'm glad you are enjoying. & it sounds like a great workout from all the comments below

That is so cool!
I love doing drills and shadow-boxing for cardio and use it to warm up my clients a lot of the time. They really get into it, especially if I get out the target pads!
Let me know when and if you start sparring, and how you like it. I keep thinking about going to the boxing gym, but am a little chicken that I will be laughed out of the gym. (there is a big difference between cardio kickboxing and real boxing..).
I suppose I should just conquer those fears and go, though Maybe I will wait for further reports from you, brave coffeegirl!

asimmer-You should have no fears a boxing gym is more at ease then any other type of gym. I've been to a few and everyone is their to learn noone is looked at lightly infact most people are ready to jump the gun to help anybody in a boxing gym because no matter what you do in that type of environment you are going to learn something and thats what everybody is their for.

Well, I'm WAY out of shape, and know NONE of the punches...and everyone was so nice to me. I did get ribbed and had to do push ups because I *had* to have some water - apparently they want you to fill up before you start, and you're not allowed to do that during the work out (about 1/2 hour). I wasn't a fan of that, but that's it.

I was surprised at the number of neck exercises. While I'm understanding it, my neck muscles are SO SORE today that I have a headache. THAT sucks.

But - it was a BLAST! And I can't believe how much I was sweating and how sore I was after...and I only lasted a little while.

Honestly - I couldn't tell you as my neck and legs were SO SORE. I can't go back today (monday) after the friday workout cause I can still barely squat. I think I may have overdone it. ;-)

I could see it helping the back and abs a lot once I start throwing some actual punches.

I'm going to go for a run today - and get that in.

hey you may have a headache because you didn't get enough water?
I wouldn't work out whith someone who wouldn't let me drink water thats how people die and stuff. So you should tell those guys to shut up and let you not die of thirst.
