All depends on your goals. I do legs 2x a week but I'm getting ready for a Season of Downhill mountain biking and a road marathon. I don't see a problem even if you just want to work your legs twice.

Now what are your goals? You can work your legs 3 times a week if you want but that's not for muscle mass but only "toning".

Are you looking to increase strength and power in your legs or lose fat there? If you're looking for the latter, remember: you can't spot reduce. You could do all leg workouts and never shed a pound of fat in your legs. Fat burning is a whole body process; you body loses fat in a preset pattern. Adding more leg work will not do you any more good.

Im looking to tone my legs..i do not wish to lose any weight, simply to tone them. Should i include cardio on my upper body days..or increase the times i work legs?

Sounds like you are doing quite enough leg work. May be time to look to your diet for the answer!

If you're really interested in building muscle in your legs, you could split your workout into two leg days, one knee dominant (quads) and one hip dominant (hamstrings and glutes). That might be a solution to what you're looking for.

The thing that worked for me and I saw results fast is......
The stair master... I, for 3 weeks now I do 1/2 hour stairmaster 5 days a week. Boy did I get toned legs fast.
That machine works like a charm.... Hard on the knees though.

What do you mean? There are two types of pain, regular muscle soreness and lactic acid type "pain" and then worse types that may be signs of strain or injury. Please specify and we'll be happy to help!
