Can someone please explain to me what the difference are between the three fats? Which are good vs. bad?

Saturated Fat
Poly Fat

Saturated fats are the bad ones from animal fat. Mono & Poly are the better ones they especially the mono will help your good colesteral. But remember fat is fat having less of the saturated and more of the others is the best but it all counts as fat.

Thanks again Sempai,

I know that fat counts as fat, I am looking at everything low in fat, but want to make sure the things that do have fat have the right kind.

Have a great day!

Some fats are very good for you, and actually almost essential for maintaining good all around health. Never rule fats completely out of your diet. Olive oil for example is a monosaturated fat, very instrumental fats in changing your cholesterol ratio, LDL to HDL. YOu have probably your bestfats of all, Omega 3 and 6 (these are considered essential fatty acids), due to their requirement for proper human growth and developement. Omega 3's in a nutshell have been shown to enhance metabolism, aid fat Loss(ironic, huh?), reduce inflammation, an contribute to general healthi.e...healthy skin, healthy cholesterol levels, blood pressue maintenance, healthy immune system function, and more. Omega 6's (GLA) are shown to help body composition, cardiovascular protection, and general health and well being. Cold water fish oils are an excellent source, such as found in salmon. Flax oil is extremely rich in Omega 3's. Hope this helps.

As a golden rule, try to avoid all "hard" fat -as in butter, margarine and of course all heated fat (fried food).

The body needs good fat to burn the bad fat......

Thanks bbfit and Philia2- Great advice for me to take in the future. I have done some changes on the types of fats i am eating so far. they only thing that is a bit frustrating is that I meet my satisfactory level of the fat department, but am low in all others!! I will get it sooner or later! :)

Any new diet takes an adjustment period. Usually a week to 2 weeks with the diet will get you on track so you don't have to think very much about it, you just do it. Good luck.
