Does weightlifting help in the prevention of diseases such as type 2 diabetes, I tried to find stuff online but didn't find anything really regarding weightlifting but did find that regular walking helps to prevent it. But i was wondering more or less does weightlifting help in the prevention of diseases or is it just good for reving up your metabolism and keeping your blood pressure stable, and preventing bone loss? Or is it important to put cardio in your regimen to help prevent diabetes etc?

Cardio is important for many reasons, reducing your chances of dianetes, Coronary artery disease, stroke, high blood pressure, and endurance!
Weight lifting is very beneficial for decreasing bone loss from osteoporosis, increasing bone density due to the stress the muscles put on the bones the bones become stronger.
Weight lifting also changes how your body handles insulin and glucose, so yes, it does helpprevent and/or regulate diabetes.
Two big factors you haven't mentioned that also greatly reduce your chances of lifestyle related diseases and hypertension, diabetes, cancer, coronary artery disease, etc, are stress reduction and diet.
Prayer, meditation, tai chi and yoga, any forms of relaxation that helps quiet the mind and center you helps improve uimmune function (up to 50% in some studies) and helps combat the type-A personality factors associated with hypertension and stress. Stress causes many problems in your system, the release of the stress hormone cortisol comtributes directly to bodyfat storage, mainly abdominal, but it also impacts many functions in your body negatively.
Diet is probably an even bigger factor for lifestyle related diseases than any of the above. you could do everything else right and yet neglect to eat healthier and not get the benefits of your efforts.
I hope i informed more than i confused.

My wife is a type 2 diabetic. With her weight training and good diet, she is completely off meds! She is the healthiest she has ever been. She works with the weights, as heavy as she can. This is the best proof of what weight training can do, the real world.
