I suggest you do a search or try the other board under female discussions, I believe there are some postings in there.
Welcome to the site and good luck.

Hi megan, welcome to the site!! Well first off, working out your calves with a really light or no weight at all will be good, this will tone them and hopefully slim them down a bit. I have fairly god size calves too and I noticed when I did a lot of running it trimmed them down a lot and just basically showed the muscle... good luck and hope this helps.

Hi Megan, My calves used to be a problem for me too. Remember that your muscular calves are better than a pair of toothpick calves anyway. I do not do machines or any kind of weight lifting with my lower body- I end up looking really bulky. Look into pilates or basic ballet exercises, you get gorgeous definition but none of the extra bulk. Ballet builds long, strong, lean muscles, give it a shot. Good luck.

Stretch them!!!! Stand on a step on your toes and go aaaall the way up and aaall the way down, 4 times 20.

Oh yes it'll hurt and burn BUT you'll get nicer looking calves. Do this 3 times weekly for 6 weeks (and NO it wont give you bigger calves!!!!)

There IS hope!!! I just wanted to share my personal experience on the subject. As long as I can remember, I was never able to buy the pair of knee high boots I liked because my calves were too wide - not fatty, just the way I am built, very muscular, but wider than I wanted! I even think I posted a question about that in the forum, how to slim down the calves awhile back. And I must say - I agree completely with Philia2 - stretching does work!!! During the last year I really got into yoga and pilates, I do it 4 to 5 times per day in addition to 2-3 days of cardio, and a few days ago I decided to measure my calves again (last time I did it was over 6 months ago). And - o miracle! - they were 3 cm about 1.2 in smaller than from the last measurement!!) It is incredible - I never thought it would be possible, but with all the stretching from yoga (especially standing poses, like downward facing dog etc) I feel that my calves (actually probably all my muscles) got longer and thinner. I went to the store and every pair of boots I tried fit perfectly!! :) It may be trivial to some, but I am still on top of the world about the news (women will understand me :) Figured I'd share my experience so it can be helpful to others who struggle with the same problem. Good luck!
