Work your triceps if you want big arms there 2/3rd or so of your arm whilest your bicep is only 1/3rd so if u want big arms go get some big triceps!!

good exercise are close grip bench press's, dips and tricep extension, bicep exercises you can do are standing barbell curls, and for your shoulders i assume u want your shoulders to be broader? so upright rows, laterals raises help there also Military presses help put on alot of mass on your shoulders this exercise is the king for shoulders

forgot to add... if ur a begginer dont worry about these things just now try training your other muscles - legs, back and chest as these will support your arms and shoulders to get bigger

You may want to try a program from here on FT and add in the extra shoulders program. it works.

It has been shown in some cases that squats can stimulate growth all over. THis is still a conterviserial ( i know I spell as good as andrew), theory.

I've heard that before but didn't know if there was any truth to it. I remember a friend telling he started to get bigger all over when he started putting squats in his routine.

My take on it is that resistance training of any body part increases blood flow and stimulates growth hormone release (amongst other things). The larger the muscles worked the greater the effect, which will increase the take up of other worked muscles, i.e. if you work a small muscle (bicep in this case) you will get small increase in blood flow and GH just enough for the bicep but the bicep could take more than its ration so by working a larger muscle blood flow and GH will increase greater than that created by the bicep but the worked bicep will tap off some of the nutrients that are stimulated to feed the legs.

Just reading all the entries i have to laugh because you guys are all on the right track but as far as i can tell its all hearsay. The truth is it is absolutely true that when you work your legs you will gain mass all over and heres why. Legs are the strongest muscle (that and back) and are responsible for the most testosterone production. When you lift tesosterone is produced. Now as we know testosterone is not "Site specific" which means yes when you work your legs there will be "over flow" into your other muscle groups. Legs and back are the two largest muscle groups capable of the heaviest compound excersises. I cant stress compound movements enough. Remeber the more muscles involved in performing an excersise correctly, the more testosterone produced. And the more weight over your bones, the better. Go HARD.:dumbbell:

While your right that these muscles stimulate testostorone you are wrong for believing that this is the main reason for growth. Exercise is one of the most powerfull stimulants for production of growth hormone which stimulates protein synthesis (hence muscle growth), strenghens bones ligaments and cartlidge. Testosterone is also usefull but not responcible for growth. Read my post above its the same as yours, but I got the right hormones!

oh... and gettin on to the topic. a very good exercise and often overlooked are pullups. these are great for back/shoulders/biceps. switch up hand positions and you have yourself a very effective exercise (compliments to wrestler125...)
