I've been using Harbinger lifting gloves when I workout for the last year. I originally started using them in college when I began lifting heavier weights. I've read about using chalk on the hands many times and how much better it can be. Even Arnold mentions and stresses it in his "Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding." Today (chest day) I tried it for the first time and I must say that I actually like it better. I seemed to 'feel' the weight better so I had improved balance. I recommend everyone give it try (if you haven't already).

You are soooooooo lucky that the gym you work out allows chalk!! I've never been comfortable with gloves; chalk is so way superior.
I remember, when I was still powerlifting, walking into this new warm & fuzzy "gym" that I had never lifted in before with my little ziplock of chalk and this little munchin of a man of a manger scurrying up to me and telling me that I cant use chalk. I said why, and he said because it was too messy. When I offered to clean up any mess after I was done, he still no. I asked him what was the difference between a belt and chalk as they are both safety devices. He ignored it and told me to use gloves. I couldnt believe he said that!! My voice now louder, I leaned over him and said "Have you ever tried to deadlift 650 pounds with gloves!?" Then looking at him up and down, said "No, I guess you've havent!" Ugh! That pissed me off.

Calluses are a badge of honor. Wear them proudly. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Good luck.......Michael

I definitelly agree. It feels much more "natural" to me. I don't know if that's just in my head, but it still feels more comfortable. The only drawback is that your hands get pretty torn up sometimes, but matto is "no pain no gain."

i use gloves right now during my workouts, but i have used chalk before and it felt a lot better on my hands. The only thing is that I don't know where to get chalk or what kind. Any advice?

The chalk I used was a magnesium compound. I believe you can still get it on-line at any powerlifting store (search: powerlifting) like monstermuscle.com.
