I workout to trance or house every time. I love it. Not only is it high energy, but I have a particular CD that is Friggin PERFECT!!! I know alot of aerobics instructors bite our music for their purposes, but does anyone else out there use this?

I'm usually out of batteries but I usually listen to some rock before I workout to hype me up... helps in the morning when I just woke up and still feel 1/2 asleep..

Something fast.. loud.. slipknot usually does it.. static-x.. system of a down.. snot.. etc.. I listen to some other stuff if i'm just sitting around like linkin park.. staind.. lost prophets.. union underground.. etc.. after that i'm open to a load of things other than pop (i think thats it.. or whatever that boyband type of music is), country (just don't like it), and RARELY rap.. i've probably only heard somewhere under 20 rap songs I thought were good.. EVER... so its not likely you'll catch me listening to that..

I listen to trance - Enigma! Once in a while, I get into some rave, too. I mix/burn my own CDs, so I'll throw in a few theme songs as well.

Sorry J, I just can't get down and funky to some fleetwood. I still have almost ALL the Bad Company cd's so....
Dutch,
Some hardcore is cool some isn't. That genre is a pretty big gamble.

Cain, you sure got a point there. But, I guess that's the same whith all genres. By the way, what do you think of R&B for the slower reps?

Lumina, I realize I didn't specify very well. I listen to
Techno, Rock, Classical, symphonic, folk, etc
I really only don't listen to three things. Country, Rap, and R&B. Give me blues, bluegrass, anything but those three things.

I am an electronic music head..I personally listen to breakbeat music when doing cardio..tho sometimes I start to want to dance..imagine trying to bust a move and almost falling off an elliptical! I love to dance, I am a dance-o-holic! Trance is too slow..house is ok...maybe throw some house or hardcore in while your lifting..

okay cainsands. i am very involved in the electronic music industry and agree that it is awesome to work out to. however, trance is by far not the fastest form of electronic music. it's all about bpm (beats per minute). techno, hardcore, and even some drum'n'bass has got trance beat out. that's from a purely technical standpoint. it does how a lot of layers, so for that reason, it seems faster (same reason as house).

Well, actually I was thinking about this thread the other day. Mainly because I was listening to some energy. Happy Hardcore is faster, some drumnbass, Hard House can be, and hard trance is definetly. I'm not sure about goa but I have heard some fast goa. But if you wanted to talk about these things no normal non techno lover is going to have a clue what we're talking about. I was over generalizing..

fitlilalien: i'm familiar with the funklab crew. nice.
cainsands: true, most people don't know. but i'm a techno geek, so careful of how you throw that term around. it drives me nuts when i hear house music (or even a pop remix) called techno.
just for the record, i listen to everything but country. but, i've been known to dabble in that as well. it's all about talent. if you've got it, i'll appreciate it.

Very good point Cain. Music is Music. Now people try to make up new types of music to be COOL. Its all BULL$H*+! All the house, trance, electronica and whatever else, should be called Techno. Also, why do people listen to that junk that repeats OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Its starts out with a small bass line or beeping then builds into a song that remains the same for about 10 minutes before starting the process ALL OVER AGAIN. I can stand a few good songs but after a while They ALL sound the same. I guess maybe if I get high or rollin then it will sound good? But I don't so I'll never know... No offense though, lol I don't care what you listen to as long as you like it. Have a nice day :)

Now I disagree with all that. Most people say that until they actually get into the scene.

i agree with the comment about the wannabe dj's...they buy a set of tables and are suddenly a-list. i'm not trying to be anal, i just know the terms. the distinctions just come from being in the scene for so long. jme53, i disagree with the "all called techno". electronic music IS the general name. on that token, should we stop making distinctions about rock, whether it be pop, industrial, classic, metal, or whatever? also, not all people that listen to that "junk" do drugs. i don't, and still enjoy the music all the same. and for someone who doesn't care, you certainly have a lot to say.

I wish I was cool enough to "get into the scene". sniff sniff :(

I enjoy all types of music, but I tend to stay away from country. I like some of the techno, trance, etc..., but I don't waiste my time digging for new artists or types of music. If I hear a good song, I d/l it. I discover new stuff from radio and friends. I like music that makes me move(although not like a zombie or w/ glo stiks ;). Hip-hop, rock... I jam it all. Can anyone recommend a few songs to further introduce me to the world of house, trance, whatever else?

You should try Da Boy Tommy (hardcore), he is a Dutch DJ, so I don't know whether you can find some of his work. But if you do, you sure should listen to: Halloween.

Skinny, if you have Audiogalaxy look for Christopher Lawrence, Paul Oakenfold, Doran, and that should start you out with some.

Hey dutchpower, Da Boy Tommy has some pretty cool songs. I liked "kol nedra", halloween is pretty good but it does repeat alot like jme53 said. Candyman also repeats, but I like the skit and the slashing sound after they call his name lol. I had Paul Oakenfold-"journey into a trance" but that is extremely repetitive and way too long. it was a waiste of good hard drive space. he does have a few other good songs though.

I just say Oakenfold because he is the most widely accepted at first. Since I don't know how much trance you may have heard I start with him. Give Christopher Lawrence a shot, you'l probably like it.

yah, bones may be old school, but you have to give props to that. oakenfold is old school for trance. however, both have come out with new stuff recently. oakenfold is just more well known outside of the electronic music community, so you hear it more.

hard house, and progressive house, some nice ministry of sound, or taul paul or oakenfold.

or my trance energy 2002!

this music i have loved since the first day i walked into a club, it makes me day dream as soon as i hear it, so it makes me picture what i want to be, and helps me that much more! i could not work out with out music, just would not feel right.

Trance too slow??? The only thing faster is hardcore!

=============

nope

trance is generaly a slower, realax mode kind of music, often is depressing,

Older trance is more teh "hardcore" trance, that gets u going with the million treble beats. Newer dj's like blank and JOnes, have made some decent "faster" trance - pick up Trance Energey 2002 (4cds) highly recommend it. (or i cna try to get it to u)

depends what "genre" of trance u listen too, and many people comfuse trance with techno - yes, that is possible.

Ambient trance is good,

But i do prefer my house, progressive, or hard house, as it has far more base, then trance, or techno, and that is what i like, i crank it so the bass moves through me while i work out, feels dam sweeet!
