Monday at the gym. It's usually pretty busy and I'm usually kind of in a fog getting back into the groove after 2 days off. We were doing back/biceps and were on DB rows. I glanced at my notebook and grabbed the 35# DB. After a couple I had hubby check my book as it felt really heavy. He said that was right 35#, so I did my 12 reps thinking I must be off today. Then I looked at my book again and saw that I was supposed to have started with 25#! My next set should've been 30# then, but he said NOPE, you can't go backwards. So I grabbed the 40# thinking I'll never be able to lift this....did 10 reps. Now my husband is smirking because he always thinks I can lift heavier than I do. Next set, I drag the 45# over to the bench...8 reps, albeit with some difficulty on the last 2, but I did them. By now one of the trainers is also smiling. I couldn't believe it! I always think I am working to my max and pretty proud of it, but I'll have a hard time convincing anyone that from now on! Just wanted to share that.

It is pretty amazing what the mind can convince the muscles to do. When we THINK we can't go any further, that's when we don't. Now if we could just convince our muscles that we are He-Man, then we wouldn't have any problems. Us here at FT need to talk to your husband and convince him to "accidentally" grab you higher weights just to keep you PRing:) Congrats on the PRs, and keep it up.

Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.

You go girl! Your story is so true - a friend at the gym is always telling me to do more when I think I can't - I am very often proved wrong. And doesn't it feel good? Such a nice habit to get into - bumping up the weights as often as possible feels so rewarding. Great job!
