Hi - one more question. I am just starting to focus on building my muscle mass so I am pretty lean (6'4", 200 lbs). Should I be taking any sort of supplements at this point or just letting my body do it's own thing. My metabolism is great and my body is responding quickly to my program. I was just wondering if I could take anything to help me gain the muscle definition and mass I am looking for.
As always, thanks for the good advice.

That is a great question! I have been reading several bodybuilding and fitness magazines over the last couple of months prior to starting my workout program. I see all kinds of supplements; powders, drinks, pills, etc.
Does any of this crap work? When designing my work out program it was east to find research that validated what I read about exercise and physiology. I could not find and data regarding these products other then the claims, and studies that they conducted.
For example I have read medical studies stating the benefits of Creatine, however as I understand it, it is very hard to get the right amounts in to your system at the right time, to be effective.
Does anyone here use supplements? and if so what? I like the general Idea of supplements, just having a rough time wading through the marketing hype

As it has been said many times: first get your training, diet, and rest in order, and I mean seriously. After that, you can consider supplements to help out. But remember, they are called supplements for a reason...

You guys echoed exactly what I thought. As far as the protein goes getting enough seems to be one of my biggest challenges. I have tried a few "bars" that tasted horrible!! What meal replacements do you use? I would try something that I didn't have to gag down.

and also, supplements alone do not work, you have to as Rev said have your training, diet and rest in order for them to ork properly.
