I would like to know about drinking sports drinks like Gatorade or Powerade, is it okay to drink them?

WEll, depends on why. If you are just drinking them throughout the day, then no, they have too much sugar. You don't give a profile, so we don't know what your goals are. But in general, they are good for endurance atheletes.

what about drinking gatorade mix for the carbs and calories to get the recommended nutrition for your diet?
Is it okay then.

Well, as mentioned, they are normally loaded with sugars, and drinking them too much will mess up your insulin sensitivity.

If its right before, after, or even during a workout, then its ok, even recommendable. However, if it is before a workout, then be sure to dilute it with water.

Ingesting calories and other minerals while exercising takes energy away from the activity at hand (since a certain amount of chemical energy is required for digestion). Moreover, if the drink contains sugar, this will further put the athlete into a catabolic state, and could make the post workout insulin spike less effective.
In other words, raising insulin levels too early will further contribute to catabolism.

I wouldn't. Gatorade first off will give you a bit of an insulin surge, this is its intention. As noted, raising insulin levels too early can lead to further catabolism, due to the fact of increasing your insulin resistance rather than sensitivity, thus rendering your post workout shake maybe not as effective. Your PWO shake is the most anabolic thing you do on a daily basis, the more potent you can make it(more uptake), the more you will get from it.
