I know this sounds stupid asking this question but I would like to get your word on this. Smoking. What effects does/will smoking have on a person that is working out. Everyone knows of the risks one takes in pursuing this habit but I would like input on the effects of a person involved in your, or any, program. Thanks everyone.

Less oxygene to the muscles as one of the side effects.
We've had some post about this before. Do a search and you'll get lots of great info!!

Smoking is a very bad habit and has TONS of negative effects... BUT
Being sedentary (not doing any kind of excercise) is worse in mind.
I've read lots of research that shows a moderate smoker who exercises will be healthier than a non smoker that just sits around all day and doesn't use his muscles.
Now if that smoker kicks his nasty habit and keeps on working out, then he'll be in even better shape and feel way better (once he can get over the little nicotine addiction).

In a nut shell..... In addition to the reduced oxygen levels in the muscle tissue, smoking causes damage to various parts of the body and introduces free radicals (the chemicals blamed for aging, among other things). Your body needs to repair this damage and flush out the free radicals, as well as recover from a workout. This puts way too much of a strain on your body, especially the immune system. Your recovery/recuperation time will be increased, therefore you will probably grow at a slower pace than if you did not smoke.
