Hey guys. Has anyone not trying to lose weight ever used slimfast on top of a meal or as one of many smaller meals you eat a day? My friend has started me on their strawberry shakes and now I start taking them as snacks. I'm not sure of their nutritional content, but do you think it is ok to take in place of a meal replacement or protein shake? Thanks.

They should not be used as a replacement for a protein shake because they are not intended for that. MRP’s and protein shakes are designed for different goals
Protein shakes are specifically designed to provide extra protein in a fairly pure form. Good for increasing an otherwise balanced diet that is lacking in protein, or for adding protein to a meal otherwise lacking.
MRP’s are designed as a substitute for a real meal, when you can’t eat or can’t face eating it.
Slimfast are intended as an MRP, though as I understand it they are pretty lame (containing a poor number of vits and minerals, a poor nutritional balence and are over priced). HOWEVER I have never read the back of the tin or tried getting then I am just going on what I'd heard.

Having it WITH a meal? Those things are intended to replace a meal... not wash another meal down! hehehe But as the others have said already.. yea.. not such a good thing period. Lots of sugar. (though I must admit.. years ago when I started my health kick I drank those for a while)

I'm really glad that I got to read some comments on SlimFast. I have been using it to replace one meal a day. I haven't seen any markable results so I'm going to discontinue it. I do enjoy just drinking a shake for breakfast, adding fruit and soymilk. Can anyone suggest a good product to use as a shake?

Some egg whites and a bowl of oatmeal would be more productive

But in a pinch - either pick up some myoplex lite, it has a good carb/protein/fat amounts for most women and comes in a wide variety of flavors. Or pick up a lrage container of a high quality whey protein, in vanilla or a flavor you like, some frozen strawberries and some flaxseed oil. Put 8 oz water, 1-2 scoops of powder, 4 strawberries and 1/2 TBSP flaxseed oil in the blender - voila, healthy and fast.

770mutt and asimmer.....Thank you, thank you, thank you for the advice on what I can do to replace Slimfast. I've been reading the posts here trying to determine what I should take instead. I think I'll try the myoplex lite. I've gotten hooked on the shakes in the morning and really look forward to them.

After some further research over my lunch hour today I realize that eating food is much more productive than drinking a shake. I purchased a good whey protein powder that I plan on adding to my oatmeal in the morning and can also use as a meal replacement when I'm in a pinch.

Good for you remember that powders, shakes pills etc are all SUPPLEMENTS-not replacements. You will find that your energy and strength and overall fatloss and muscle gain will all be better the more whole food you eat in comparison to the other stuff.
