Hi Everybody!!
I'm 5'6 with a medium build and I wear a size 10/11. Right now I'm at 150lbs (down from 175lbs!) and I don't know how much more weight that I would have to lose to get down to a size 6/7. Can any of you ladies give me any hints about the sizes that you wear at certain weights and heights. Is my goal a realistic one? Keep in mind that I'm already on a good program of healthy eating, cardio, and weight training.

Hi there and welcome

Honestly I haven't got a clue what size I use.... Maybe a 12? (I'm a big lady ;o) It doesn't matter (the same thing goes with the balance, don't you worry about what it tells you, what matters is what you see in the mirror!)
Congrats about your weight loss, you've done a great job until now so I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to reach your goal.

i really don't think you should worry about the number on the inside of your clothes. every brand is cut so differently that it really doesn't matter to begin with. i have clothes in my closet that range from a 7/8 all the way to a 14 that fit me. don't think about the size of the pants or the shirt, think about how good it looks on you.

Lol Woodstock, but don't you forget that I'm in Europeen sizes so I don't even know how much IS a size 12 (or 6) BUT one thing I know is that I looove to wear big shorts (that falls way down on my hips) and a huuuuge sweater (to keep me warm) so big sizes are very much welcome in my closet (another thing not to forget is that I'm a pretty big girl of 5'11....... ;o)
Girls, I'm sure that they created the weight scale (and clothes sizes) just to give us grey hair.... but don't you let them, forget about it and keep bringing out that beautiful smile!

When I weighed 250, I never thought I would see a size 6, I am there now and last summer I hit a size three, what a thrill. I say it depends on how bad you want it. Now working to see the size 3 again.

Sticking with a high protein diet with good carbs and working out 5 days a week is how I got there.

k, you say cardio, cardio, cardio. My question is..i'm trying to get very defined w/loosing some weight(i'm at a 24.4% body fat and i'm trying to get to a 16%). I am on the high protien diet(Oh, i have some help i need..please check the nutrition forum for my post on 'protien and training'). Anyway, I do weight training w/my trainer Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. He has me doing 60 mins cardio Monday-friday w/doing the cardio AFTER the weights on the three days. Is this good for my goal?!

Oh yes, I should have mentioned that too. I am only 5'1" with a small frame. My body fat is currently at 24.4% and I am trying to obtain 16%.

My workout routine consists of the three day split(mondays legs. Tuesday's chest, shoulders and tri's and Friday's back and biceps. We do abbs every day). I do 40-60 mins cardio for those three days then two days out of the week I go for 60 mins. My three day splits consist of weight training doing 3 reps of 15-20. Last set always being the set that I am pushing muscle failure(Gosh, I love that phase).

I am on the high protien low carb diet. I eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours each consisting of a protien(chicken, tuna, cod, salmon or protien shakes - Yum, Optimum) and vegetables. I eat 4 cups of veggies a day. I have one to two servings of fruit and one to two servings of carbs (usually consisting of brown rice or a 1/2 baked potatoe or oatmeal). I also drink anywhere from 84-124oz of water a day.

Hi....new here and just wanted to put in my two cents. Im 5'8" and back in the day I weighed 115lbs and wore a size 2...and was starving and working out 7 days a week for two hours. Dont want that know but for my height and build I would be happy with a size 10 or 8 ( size 16 now). I dont think clothe size or weight is whats important here....I think living healthy and enjoying your life in the process is....and being able to play out side with your kid when he becomes a teenager....mine is already 7...and most of all being able to look back on your life and be proud of yourself.

Ok imani6. Are we both going to motivate each other ... and head for that size 6?

I'm thinking a size 8 for me. I think my frame and 122 pounds would be very very skinny and I don't want to look scary! hehehe ... But I have a large frame. ;)

I'm 5'5" & weight 133 & I'm a size 10 in some clothes & 8 in others - when I was 125 I was in a size 6 so I believe that it can happen - I have notice that in the more expensive clothes I tend to wear smaller a size so I think a tape measure is the best key on how you are doing

Your right about more expensive clothes. The designer I work for has me in a 0....in most clothes I'm a 3 or 5. Go figure...

I am 5'3 and weigh 112. I eat consistenly. But, I would rather weigh more and have more muscle. So, I am trying to change my diet and do a lot more weight training as well.

Very interesting posts. I would have to agree that size doesn't matter though. I'm 5'3 and 207 right now. Believe it or not when I was 170 a few years ago - I had a flat stomach and nice hourglass figure. It's all in how you carry your weight. When I was 170 I had size 9/10 to size 16 in my closet...so go by how you feel. You're doing great.

It is different for everyone - My old roommate and I wore the same size, were the same height, and I was 25 lbs heavier than she was. AND if you look at pictures - I looked skinnier! That was weird.

Coolness. That gives me some ideas on what area goal I should go for. I'm 5' 6.5" so I'm thinking around 140-165 should be a perfect weight. What I'm happy with anyway. That should be around a size 10-12 for me I would think.

Wow I love the variety given to everbodies sizes that they wear. I also can't help but shake my head in agreement with Laneylou, though...I'm also 5'6.8" and I don't think that the .2" difference would make much of a difference in the sizes that we wear when feeling our most outstanding *) Granted this is going for the bargain basement jeans such as Faded Glory, Gitano, and Wranglers, but any where from an 8 to a 12 is a great look, but again the size posted doesn't matter so much as how you feel *) My mother is only 5'5" and wears a size 12 sometimes even a 14 in the same clothing lines that I wear, yet she looks amazing, you would never know that she had 3 kids and has never seen the inside of a gym in well over 20 years. At age 50 she can still walk down the beach in a bikini and heads will turn, yet for me at almost 3" taller than her and only 1-2 sizes larger, I wouldn't even dream of wearing a one piece without shorts and a large t-shirt over it to hide away in at the beach. Btw currently a size 15/16 in jr.s 14 in ladies and working towards losing my belly a bit of my hips and getting some shape just below the lower back since I've go no cushioning back there LOL, whatever size that ends up being I'll be happy even if my pants and skirts say 16 or even 18 *) Sorry I couldn't be a bit more helpful in the actual size/height ratio, but I swear sizes and scales were invented by sadists that want to drive us mad! hehehe Should also make mention that I was down to a size 10 before with flat abs and low body fat yet was deemed obese by the height/weight charts... weighing in at 220lbs. The numbers game doesn't matter it's all in how you feel and the look you're going for whether it be a smooth flat stomach and some womanly curves, or 6 pack abs a well toned body, or even just being happy with a little pooch *)

Ok I sew clothes for myself so I just grabbed a Simplicity patteren

for a size 4 - Bust 29 1/2: Waist 22; Hips 31 1/2
a size 6 - 30 1/2: 23; 32 1/2
a size 8 - 31 1/2: 24; 33 1/2
a size 10 - 32 1/2: 25; 34 1/2
a size 12 - 34: 26 1/2; 36
a size 14 - 36: 28; 38

OK now you can decide if you can get into it or not
I'm at 34: 29; 36 & usually buy a size 8 to 10 - I need to work on tummy (cardio, cardio & more cardio ;))
