Is rollerblading just as effective as walking as far as cardio goes? Does it work more or less of your muscles and heart compared to walking?

I wouldn't think it would be any less or more effective. Most people say that cardio is all about keeping your heart at it's target rate for a duration of time. So no matter how you do it, should be the same effect.

I agree, it is all about your target heart rate. For cardio, I think rollerblading would be much more effective than walking, just from a total body workout perpsective. I have heard it can be a very intense workout, especially on the legs and glutes. I am sure however there are some mean POWER walkers out there who might disagree.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I remember about two(k maybe more) years ago all the docs were saying the most effective form of cardio was power walking. The motions are similar, just more distance would be covered.

Yes you guys are all right, it's a question about heart rate.

I love roller blading..... It's great speed and my dog loves running next to me. No impacts as well so less hard for your knees and back (comparing to running).

The most important thing about cardio training is variation. Change exercise once in a while so it will not turn boring.
