I know when you lift heavy you need to rest the muscles I believe 5 to 7 days. But do you rest the same period of time when you are lifting light to moderate weights lots of reps (would 60 to 80 reps be enough) more for tonning than mass gains. I am not looking for large gains right now not untill I get rid of some more fat.

when you talk about 60-80 reps is that for a number of sets? I have always gone by what my body tells me. If you are going light and feel that after say 2 days of rest that you are good to go, I say try it and see what happens...

Hey Mutt, I have never bothered much with sets when doing light weight just pick em up and go till I can't. Like for instance dumbell curls 15lbs dumbells go till I hit 80 thats pretty much my limit, 20 lb dumbells 60 seems to be my stopping point, bicepts are usually screeming. but I dont stop like ever 10 or 15 just keep going. Is this not a good thing I have been doing every other day mostly just curls and lateral raises. And why were on the topic any suggestions for strengthening the lats?

You can train your entire body more often yes when only using light weight (and lots of reps)(No muscle mass but definition BUT you NEED some muscle mass to GET some definition....... so it's necessairy NOT to work like this all the time)

Listen to your body.

Next week I'll go out camping Sempai! Thanks! (o;

If you want a little more muscle mass (or make sure to keep it!) or you simply need to chock the muscle then yes you should change between high and low rep weeks.
