I just began weight training and I am very sore is this normal? How long does the soreness last? Should I still trian on my schedule days?

The soreness results from your body adapting to the stress you are putting it through. Every body is different so I can't tell you how long it normally lasts. Continue to train and rest plenty on your rest days...that's what they're for.

LOL Robert got it right!!! The soreness should go away after a few days. Just rest and for real bad soreness take an anti-imflammorty(hope that is spelled right). Make sure you warm up and down. Do some light stretching as well even on the days off and rest days it helps me.

As a beginner myself I have had this very bad as well, it was so bad the first week that I had trouble typing at work:):) Its important to take it very lightly, use small weights and only gradually take a few kilo's more when going in the last reps. And for me the soreness went away after 10 days of training:) I guess it usually won't take longer then 10-15 days for your body to adapt.

Take a hot shower or make the hubby give you a niiiiiice massage!!! This would help.

Hi.

I had a similar problem, but it went away after two days. I just kept stretching, so that might help as well.

I've been in the gym for a year now and I still get sore. I never let my muscles settle into a routine. I order to build bigger muscles, your lift weights which tears down your muscles, and when they heal, they grow back bigger. This is where you get soreness from. Soreness can last anywhere from a day to 3 or 4 days, depending on how intense you trained.

I had to read this and laugh. I remember when I first started and I got really sore also, but now I enjoy that sore feeling the next day or two after working out. It tells me that I worked my muscles. It is a "good" sore! Not everybody gets sore though from their workouts.

Yes but one thing is to be a little sore from the hard working muscles and another thing is to be THAT sore so it really hurts every darn single time you do the smallest move.

I'm sore from every single work out as well (from keep challenging the muscles!!), but I'm veeeery careful not to tear myself too much apart so I'll walk like a duck for 6 days or not being able to help my clients (since I just cannot move....)

It's true thou, that the soreness from those first days of weight training is different than the soreness today.....
