Just wondering the suggestions for a good Protein drink/bar. I want to start having a shake a day or bar to help with the eating. Still working out hard.....Jan. is coming up soon :)

And to the question: What makes for a good drink in terms not to much of this or that?

I have found for me that I like the EAS carb control advantage bar...they have 2g of carbs no sugar and 25 g of protein...they taste better than most and for me are the most afforable.

I absolutely hate low carb bars, they taste like chalk! I like Powerbar Protein Plus and MesoTech, but both of these have a higher amount of carbs in them, so they may or may not be what you're looking for. As far as shakes, you can use water or milk, frozen or fresh fruits, and a couple of scoops of protein and you're good to go. But there are also many other things you can add, like flax oil, peanut butter, whatever you like and can stomach.

If cost is a factor, Do a search for protein bars. There were quite a few recipe posts several months ago in the nutrition/recipe forum. I quit protein bars after trying my own. Taste a helluva lot better and most aren't hard to make.

For a protein drink, I like the Methoxy-Pro. It contains protein, no carbs and some other good stuff that help with keeping the soreness and inflamation down. I get mine on line from www.prosourceonline.com For bars I like the Eas regular protein bars they have about 300-400 cal per bar but are packed with good stuff too.

Has anyone tried the Promax bar? They sure taste great, and are very low sugar. I have had the cookies and creme and the blueberry cheesecake. Very tasty.

This is my protein shake that I have before workouts

1/2 cup of milk
1/4 cup of orange juice
4 ounces of vanilla or strawberry yogurt
1 bananna
3 icecubes
1 scoop of protein powder (vanilla)

Mix everything together in blender for about 45 seconds

Gives around....30-35 grams of protein i think..

Sounds like a tasty drink. I have trouble myself with the bananna digeting immediately pre training. I found a killer taste is a good vanilla protein powder and some orange sugar free jello mix in it. Some shaved ice. Tastes just like a dreamsicle! And the jello mix has no calories, a so called "free food". Easy to digest.

Yes...the jello powder,a tablespoon or so, maybe more to your liking,(there are no calories), crush ice, and your vanilla protein.

I like the EAS Myoplex Low Carb bars (30gm protein, 3g carbs) esp. chocolate covered strawberry. They are great at work or on the run. Met-Rx is still the best protein drink MRP to me for the money. I blend mine in the blender with ice and fruit of choice. You can also add creatine or other supplements. GNC Gold card day 20% off!!!
