I am so overweight and have health problems. No matter what I try I might lose a liitle weight but put it back on. My doctor tells me to keep trying. When I was younger it was so easy to stay thin. I use to run, but now I could not run to the mail box and back. My husband has put on weight too. I just don't want to die young.

Welcome to FT. There is a ton of information here for you to sift through and learn.

Some things I can put out there for you are diet. Make sure your diet is in order... get rid of the packaged foods and things you know are not healthy. There is a nutrition tracker here on FT you can use to keep track of the food you eat daily. Also, make sure you are eating five or six small meals a day... this will actually help you lose weight. Not five or six BIG meals, but smaller ones.

Next, start out with a goal and an exercise routine. There are routines on FT which you can do from home if you can't get to a gym. Great ideas and fantastic exercises.

Do some walking or other light cardio... you don't want to get into too much too soon... this will only lead to you wanting to stop. Build up to heavier weights and running.

And don't forget to come back to FT for support and info!

Hope that helps!

Welcome to freetrainers bucknerjunior.
You can give yourself a new start by slowly changing your lifestyle.
take the advice from the other 2 posts and forget about "diet" as a diet. They only set you up for failure.
Start buying the healthy foods, and eliminating fats and sugars for starters. Add in some daily exercise like walking to the mailbox and setting a time goal. Start off by crawling and then you will be running.
Email me anytime for some ideas.

I totally agree with everyone else...slow and steady wins the race...If you are the sort of person who eats 10 cookies a day tomorrow be the sort who eats 8 and add a piece of fruit....Everyday you make a tiny improvement the better you will feel and the easier it gets....Allow for mistakes because if you don't the guilt will get you and you will quit....Make small obtainable goals then when you reach them set new ones....for example if you drink lots of soda make a goal of "by this time next week I will only drink one soda a day"...goals must have a time frame....or Everyday this week I will go for a 15 minute walk....then next week when you were successful make it everyday this week I will go for a 20 minute walk....Long term goals are great to have in mind...but it's the short tem ones that will get you to that long term one...and will give you lots of mini ego boosts for every success!
Good luck!

Know that you aren't alone on your journey. Be thankful that you have gained wisdom at your "young" age. LOL I'm 54 years old and am just now trying to get started on a healthy life. I've tried every diet there is and finally have come to the realization that the only one I can live with permanently is a healthy diet.

There is a lot of information here and it will take a long time to discover all of it. Just when you think you have, someone will post more good info. LOL
