OSU = Bad Math

I just wanted to let everyone know how stupid the facilities management at Ohio State is. OSU's main campus has 55,000 students living in a city of about 2 million. They have five different gyms that fill pretty quickly during the school year. For the summer, the university decided to keep ONE gym open for lifting throughout the day. The floor space of the lifting area is about the size of a small basketball court. It's like a damn beehive in there, with up to 4 or 5 people waiting for the same equipment. Does anyone else think it's ridiculous for one of the largest universities in the nation to keep only one gym open during the summer? It really pisses me off.

Man, that doesn't sound like fun at all, but I can feel your pain. At one of the clubs that I train at, the space is limited and there are always waits on the machines, now while training a client there is nothing more frustrating than having to wait for equipment, with 3 other people! But, OSU should have no excuse.

I must be fortunate, the gym I go to is huge, especially for what a small town I live in, and there's usually only about 4 or 5 people in there, I've never had to wait. mzakal, I agree, that sounds ridiculous.

WOw, thats a surprise. You would think a State U would have nothing but the most and best.
Sometimes I get treated to a workout here at Mcgill U and its awsome. Usually not packed even though they have a great deal of med and phys ed students.

So do you lift at JO South? I lift there everyday at around 4 and needed a workout partner. Just wondering.

We have a pretty damn decent training facility at UNLV.... but maybe it's because our head strength and conditioning coach is a top 5 World's Strongest Man competitor - LOL!

I do lift at JO South most of the time, and occasionally at Larkins when South isn't open. I have trouble sticking with lifting partners because my schedule puts me all over the place as far as lifting times. OSU doesn't make it much easier by packing us all into one gym either, so I've even walked in and walked right back out once or twice.

Yeah, I have done that several times. Sometimes it's almost useless to even try to get a whole workout done in there with all of the people in there. It doesn't take much to get crowded in there either. Oh well.

I guess the gyms are all free use? So there is not point trying to argue that if they opened another they would recoup the expense from the demand. I mean if you are getting p#*$ed off and leaving sometimes, just think of all those without commitment to a routine who are just watching TV rather than staying fit. I’m at Lancaster uni, in the UK and now the undergrads have left I’ve got the gym to myself –yesterday I got irritated because there were 4 other people in weights room (of a similar size!).
