It all depends what your goals are and what your doing for your cardio...walking for 15 min vs running for 30min???

============
Quoting from metalofhonor: dude thats way to much cardio your going to get fat ============= How does this make you fat? Depending on the diet it could work depending on the goals. elpea120 - You should more clearly define your goals. they're good but vague, give them more detail and measureable goals and timelines. It will work much better than an overall goal. |

im pretty much on an 8 week system to lose fat and build muscle, it was originally going to be running for about 27 minutes but i dont think im going to be running anymore because its effecting my knees which is effect my squats and legpress. So i will probably swim, and bike.

That extra info does help. Now my next question is why do you feel you need to change your original routine. Have you been doing it for several weeks and just not seeing progress. It is pretty aggressive to be doing both wts and cardio on the same day, but good that you at least are separating it to morning and night. If it was me, and I was just starting out, I'd go with your first plan of attack. If you're trying to put on mass, then all of the extra cardio is not going to do you much good. In this case, heavier wts, less cardio are in order. Do you have a lot of fat to loose?

No, and im not really a beginner. I have been working out for about 5 years, but not on much of a program. And i have been running for about 2 years. I just want to make my stomach flat is all, i dont even really want a six pack, i just dont want a gut, i figure i need to lose 10 to 15 pounds. The reason i feel i need to change my routine, is i dont think im getting anywhere only doing it 3 days a week, and this is kind of stuborn, but what i have done in the past is just do so much cardio that i dont have to eat right to lose weight, and it has worked, but this is nothing compared to what I used to do.

diet is MORE important than exercise. You can lose weight by not eating properly but you will slow your metabolism and your body will store fat as well as use muscle for energy. As soon as you stop exercising, your body will revolt and you will gain more weight than you lost.

Thats good to know, its just so hard. For me eating right is the hardest part about this whole thing, I can have the will power to kill myself over miles and miles of heart pounding cardio but cant have enough will power to JUST EAT RIGHT! The concept is so simple, yet its so hard.

elpea120 I know how you feel I have been struggling with this for 9 months or so I have managed to lose 23 lbs but I know that if I had eaten better I could have lost more. Just try doing it slowly. This is STILL a work in progress for me. But I have managed small victories. Pop for example i never buy. Little Deddie snack cakes I never buy . As long as it isn't in my house I can't eat it. It is out side of the house that I tend to lose my control. But sometimes its the small things that matter. And remember these are life style changes that we are trying to make. Not just short term changes.
GOOD LUCK with your goals. Remember baby steps... Everything in moderation...... I am still pounding this into my head. :) -------------- A** kissing only works if you know which one to kiss. If your dog is fat, you're not getting enough exercise. ~Author Unknown |
