The other day i was doing bicep curls i a guy came up to me and said that my muscle would shink if i did a increased the weight of my dumbell.
I normally start with a warm up with 8 or 10kgs then move up to 14kgs then 16kgs. Im comfortable at 16kgs, so i decided to increase the weight to 18kgs just to test myself and maybe move up to that weight. So once i finish 1 set 8 reps of 18kgs, this gym came up and told me if i increase the weight on the dumbell that it would shink my muscle. Im looking to increase my muscle mass and I was told that i should do weights that i could do a minimum of 8 reps which whould increase my mass??
So im confused now:surprised:

Maybe you should have asked him what he recommends to increase muscle mass, may have made for some humurous\interesting reading.
Easiest way to tell if that is true, check what a big rig in your gym does.

you also could have asked what research he has to back this up, i see many people bring their friends in their to work out, and give them all this advice on " how " to work out, and most of the time they don't know what they are talking about. But I don't say somthing unless i'm asked about somthing.

sounds like the poor guy is confused between gaining mass and getting lean muscle..........what did this guy look like is what i wonder...since he gains mass by lifting lighter weights than everyone else:dumbbell:
