MTV special on steroids doing more harm

2006/01/13, 02:13 AM

Today I am watching a show 'true life'...and my impression is that the show has a lot of misinformation...and just put together very foolishly....to make it 'watchable' and 'shocking'....

First they show this guy decide to start taking steroids....he shaking like crazy and smokes a cigarette after injecting himself...great combination there....

Then they show consistantly these steroid users in the gym doing the dumbest fukn exercises imaginable....Machine curls....yea....that's why you're spending half your income, jepardizing your health, and doing something illegal....good job....complete stupidity....one guy is so proud of attempting and finally being able to do the whole stack...on butterfly machine .....or chest press with a few plates....saying those machines are no match for him....NOW to an average impressionable viewer that seems impressive....to me it's complete lunacy.....I have never taken anything resembling a steroid/prohormone.....and have outgrown those machines years ago....so what?.....you know what it really takes? CONSISTANCY....yep I said...that's it....having the balls to go to gym consistantly whether you're making gains or not, whether you're busy or not, whether you're feeling shitty or not, whatever.....do that and like a stock index you'll make progress upwards....sure you can go after some flashy gimmicks but that's just bs...that eventually shows itself for what it is....Next on the list are proper weight lifting methods.....I don't have 90% have even a clue....then....Nutrition.....yep no matter how many steroids you do and how many sets and reps you do it's all for nothing if you don't eat CORRECTLY....then ofcourse but no less important is SLEEP.........everything else including supplements is distant last....

WHAT REALLY PISSED ME OFF was the guy coming for a magazine photo shoot and telling them he took steroids and broke out in acne and asking them to put some make up to hide it...and they readily agreeing to help.....'he didn't get the cover but he got 2 pages inside the magazine'...this is outright pathetic....this is why I have 0 faith in I read in many magazines ...and he's not anywhere near the FLEX bodybuilders size wise....just comes to show that even those 'fit' models on the covers are often abusers of steroids....

Then they show a fighter taking steroids before a match to gain an advantage....oh great job buddy....then he goes to docs to make sure it's out of his system so he doesn't get disqualified....oh wonderful....what an idiot he has to be to be shown on a nationally broadcast network.....so as you can see stupidity and steroids are actually 2 separate things....

Another problem these people face is that they do it on their own with no experience at all...they don't even make a serious effort to learn about what those steroids do....what the proper stacks are....the post therapy cycle...they don't check their blood for markers of good health....no to mention not knowing how to train, eat, and live to make sure they get full benefits of steroids.....these individuals demonstrated are truly ignorant.....and are taking greater risks than many very experienced bodybuilders....or athletes....this is what scares me the most....they also fail to realize that if they have some emotional problems in their lives or some other issues....steroids will only make them worse because they affect their hormonal equilibrium.....

good job mtv...:/

-I don't think 90% of lifters/gym goers/trainers*

-everything else that has to do with supplements is a distant last*(other lifestyle factors are importat...no drinking, no smoking, etc...)

Yeah I watched it with my wife last night, and what a joke. The model guy lifting nothing spectacular, the gay guy was priceless with his drama roid rage, and 15 inch arms..... look out..... The fighter that needed them for some reason that really didn't make sense other than to have proof that he's going to be disqualified from future matches after the show aired. I was going to watch that originally because I thought it might be somewhat interesting to see the life of an extreme body builder, but it turned out to be more of a documentary of a bunch of losers. The best part was when model pretty boy, could only do 2 45lb plates on each side of the decline hammer off cycle. priceless.........

My friend called me midway during Lakers/Cavaliers game and told me about it...I saw commercials about it....beforehand also so I said , what the hell....I agree with you per each point gangster....the 'strip show dancer' was killing me...he got on stage looking pretty crappy...and his 'roid rage' definitely broke a couple stereotypes...lmao....the fitness model was as big of a joke...sadly the average american won't even get this after watching the show...they'll prolly say...'ooo that athlete died because of steroids.....this is why they are bad...they mess with your head'.........but they won't have a clue as to why it was so god d,mn funny....or that the fighter who appeared on the show is a complete an utter idiot....probably worse than the rest put together.....I REALLY want to know wtf he was thinking about....he couldn't even explain his gf why he was doing them....that should have told him and others around him that he didn't know diddly about steroids, proper lifting methods, and everything else, and had no business taking them...beyond even his career aspirations...i give up ....I don't know who's dumber...the participants or MTV for airing that nonesense....:::throws in the towel::::

Thats BS. I am very anti-steroid from an athletic view, but I don't see why all the misinformation.
As for fighters, I have only known a couple to take gear, and you know what, it didn't help them any. Put them in a heavier weight class with stronger fighters, fighters that didn't take and were stronger.

I think that probably about 3/4 of the people that hurt themselves taking steroids, have no idea wtf they are doing. If your going to do a cycle, it should be well planned, well researched, and carefully undertaken.
Steroids don't kill people, stupid people kill people.

"Steroids don't kill people, stupid people kill people."

Couldn't say it any better...

I mean if you're going to show a special...then make it a balanced informative show....all it did was make up of the stupid people...that's about it...if it was meant to 'scare' people then I am not quite sure it did so at least not for the right reasons....I especially like the conversations between the fighter and his gf...neither has a damn clue about the issue... 'you know I did research online'....this is where you'd expect to have his gf say something half smart...but no ...'you don't know what's going to happen in the future'....good job...wonder how much time she spent 'researching' to come to that bright point.......:/

Should have renamed the show 'Stupid People and Steroids'....I think it would work just from this little change....
