I was just wondering how you guys keep yourself motivated to keep on lifting. I really dont have a problem with motivation when I am not doing anything. But it comes with when I am busy I can't always motivate myself to lift that day. if you can give me some suggestions on how to keep myself motivated it would be appreciated

These boards help a lot! Also, it helps when your kids want to work out "with you."

I think that the reason I stay motivated is (1) I want to look better and I like the results that I am seeing. (2) Inputting your data daily makes you feel guilty if you miss a day. (3) I am enjoying it now that I have this program to help and people to talk to that are into the same goals as me. Remember that FT is here to help and just stick with it, it will become part of your daily routine before you know it.

I have a picture of myself taken January 2001 with my shirt off. Just looking at that skinny guy is enough motivation to make anyone want to workout.
My real motivation comes when I look at myself in the mirror when I'm training and I notice that I'm no where near as big as I want to be. I have very defined short-term and long-term goals and I plan ahead to ensure that I attain these goals. If you set specific goals (including the dates you will acheive these goals) and have a clear plan, you should be OK. Writing your goals down helps a lot; keep them in a place where you see them all the time so you are constantly reminded of the task at hand. Tell yourself that if you do not reach these goals, you will be a failure. Since no one really wants to be a failure, you give it everything you've got to work toward these goals. However, you must stay positive at all times. Works for me, anyway.....

I have been running around and doing sport all my life (weight training for 8 years now) AND I get extremely frustrated when I cannot train (I hate my rest days).
It's not that I'm obsessed by the training, but more because of my energy.... I need to get it out or I'll get maaaaad!

Never really thought about changing my body until now (because of comp) Now the goal (and motivation) is winning the competition.

1st i think of how i use to be. then ithink of how i am now and what bbuilding has brought to me. next my kids, i want to step up on that stage and make them proud of me , maybe they will say hey , ,thats my dad up there. i go to bodybuilding shows and that motivates me a lot. after a show i get up on stage and stare out with the lights shinning down on me ...dreaming... but most of all what keeps me motivated is myself.... knowing that this is my way of life...

what motivates me the best is mostly mental. I usually listen to some music that usually pumps me up before each workout. Also, when I am lazy and dont feel like working out I picture myself being fat and not muscular at all. Then I think of how I will look in the future after I have worked out for so long.
