I have been weight training for about 4 1/2 yrs. I've made good gains in size an strength, an have lost alot of fat, about 35 lbs in. The only problem I have is my lower stomach, I don't really have gut, its firm, but I can't seem to get rid of that last layer of fat. I don't want to lose alot of muscle mass with extreme dieting, what could I do? PLEASE HELP!

Do you incorporate any cardio to your program? Unfortunately, you can't spot reduce...so the only way to get rid of the gut is to lower your overall bodyfat level. And of course, you have to change your diet as well. You won't lose much muscle mass if you continue with a high protein intake.

I had this exact problem about two years ago. Unfortunately I was unable to get rid of it. I was doing ALOT of cardio at that point too.

hey guys. Yes, I am doin cardio, about 30 min. 3 times a week. I have been following a pretty good diet , high pro., moderate carbs., low fat. My only guess is that I lost all that other body fat too fast and has resulted in lose skin, I guess? Do ya'll think I should put on more muscle to tighten my skin? I am young, and I know I shoud'nt worry too much, but I'm a personal trainer and have too look my best! Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm going to have to defer to Robert on this one. I dropped 60 lbs in 4 months, and was stuck with about a half inch of fat on my abs. The only thing people told me at the time was that it took as long if not longer to lose that last few pounds as it did the bulk of the weight. Sorry man.

Unfortunately, you'll just have to be patient. You can gain additional mass around the area by doing ab exercises with weights. After that, you can tone and define. However, you won't be able to see those muscles until you drop your bodyfat percentage to a certain level.

So, patience is the key...well, along with the diet and cardio of course.

Thanks bro's. I guess I'll keep training hard and tightenig up right now. I still am proud of my body any way, I look way better than my freinds that are 17-20. I'll be patient about it. AFTER ALL ITS ALL ABOUT HARD WORK. LATE'S BRO'S

The only thing you can do now is try to activate your metabolism. Do HIIT cardio in the mornings and put in some circuits in your weight training.
Eat 6-7 days a day and always include a protein source in every meal. No more carbs in the night time.

Finally a very important question, you said that your tummy was hard right? Well, maybe you are simply not breathing right when doing your abs...... Think about that one.

Good luck, and know that you can change (almost...)everything if you really want to.
