I have a cd which has him compete aginst arnold for Mr olmpya. He was 24 year old training under his father. I did watch the cd several times and saw his father and arnold speaking normally during and off workout period also, but never it seems that he was deaf. It was only surprisingly a few days back I learnt that he was deaf when I was on this site.

He is not deaf. Ferrigno was motivated to become a bodybuilder as a teenager, being teased as a youth for being hard of hearing.

Deaf and HOH are sometimes grouped similarly.
HOH can often speak, and read lips, especially with the help of cochlear implants.
10% of my university is deaf or HOH, and professors are forbidden from chewing gum while lectureing. This is because many individuals can read lips well if they hear certain tones.
