2 years is a reasonable amount of time to loose a substantial amount of weight safely. The key is to start today! Get your diet in order and start some kind of exercise, even if it is a short walk, but do whatever your body can handle. It will take an extreme amount of dedication, but if you stick with it you will be rewarded with not only less weight to carry around, but more energy and confidence. Your wedding day is a great motivation!
Take the time to really explore this site and learn all you can about proper diet and exercise. There are lots of supportive people here, many who've been in your situation and have had great success. Ask questions and visit often to keep motivated!
Good Luck and welcome to FT!

Well.. if you lose 2 pounds a week (which is safe), for 104 weeks straight-- you can lose 200 pounds by then. That'd be tough though.

Fat loss just like muscle gain is far from linear. To say that you will lose 2 lbs. per week is more of a math equation than real world. For example, when first beginning a diet, you normally have a high initial weight loss,(alot of water), and very happy. But in a couple weeks, this slows dramatically. Then one may not see a drop on the scale for 3-4 weeks, and this is where many give up and think it isn't working. But if you stick with it, maybe 5 weeks in there will be "whoosh", and 3 lbs. might fall off. Hard to explain, but I do believe it has something to do with water in fat cells, they basically have to "deflate" first, and then the whoosh occurs. Trying to be simple here for folks.

That is why I stated that you could loose a "substantial" amount of weight...if you're really dedicated. Lindsey, the bottom line is that you have 2 years, if you loose 200lbs, thats fantatic, if you loose 50lb, you'll still look and feel better!! You just have to get started ASAP and stick with it!!

There's not secret diet or exercise that will give you very very very fast results.. it comes in time with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
