Hey guys,
I was just wondering how reliable the pre-built exercise programs are on this site. I can't copy and paste into here because the blanks where you fill in the weights you use messes everything up. But has anyone else had good / bad experiences? I've already been told the seated twists the program gives me aren't very effective.
It's actually a less rigorous program than I had been on beforehand, and I (maybe coincidentally) gained three pounds the first week I tried it.
I used this website and program a few years ago with pretty good results, but that I had not been exercising at ALL before that. Now I've been pretty active, but mostly been making up my own haphazard routine.
Additionally ... I'm contemplating training for a half marathon mid-june. In that case, should I just forget this particular program to boot?
Thanks,
Tara

Any program that makes you move and followed with the correct diet will make you healthier, stronger, and end up with a tighter sexier body. They are not miracles, and there really is no program that is. But if followed, they work. If you are progressed further than the one you were recommended/chose, then simply add some things to it. Diet will determine what you get out whatever you do.

There are a lot of success stories in the forums from people using these programs.
Make training for the marathon your priority, but don't neglect strength training completely and be sure your calroies are high enough so all the running doesn't create too large of a deficit.

Okay, thanks guys. I certainly didn't mean to slam the program or anything, I just noticed that a lot of people use their own programs here rather than going with the pre-built ones given by FT.
Thanks.

depends on your experience level tara...and access, the 2 major things that effect the pre-built programs...however, when i first started i was beginner and showed great improvement, as it went into 3-4 months i changed the prograqm to intermediate and advanced due to my knowledge of lifts etc... which gave me a much more challenging program....alot of people who make up their own programs on here do so because they are so versed and experienced....and by the way FT Professional lets you change and replace exercises...just a little FYI

tarab21, what will most impact the success of any program is your committment to get healthy. It is you who are successfull more so than the programs. Having said that, I have been using FT programs very successfully from a complete newbie to now a five day week gym rat and loveing it. I credit the program by FT, but more so I credit myself with the desire and committment to succeed along with moderators and others who have been extreemly helpful in teaching me how to make the most of my efforts. Couple your committment with the best rescources and moderators on the planet and you have a dynamic opportunity to be all you can be. This is the right place. Good Luck!
