Hi,
I am new to this. I would like to lose up to 50 pounds. The problem is, I am in college and often have a hard time finding the energy to do anything. What i need is a work out program that is easy to do, that I can do by myself, and also one not that time consuming. I would also like a couple of suggestions for what I should be eating. If anyone can help me out with this, that'd be great. |

so you want to do as little work as possible? wasting very little if any effort/energy/time? and you want to lose 50 lb?
if you told me you wanted a 6 pack...that would have been a lot easier since the clever remark would have been to send you to the nearest liqour store... sorry to break it to you fitness takes considerable time, effort, energy, and motivation. Most efficient way to train would be doing circuits....of maybe 10 exercises, 3 times a day with 30 sec rest between sets, 3 sets per exercises.....using fairly light weight of 60-70% of your 1 rep max...doing free weight compound exercises.... Squats Deadlifts Incline Bench Presses Pull Ups/Cable Pulldowns Rows Close Grip Flat bench presses Stiff Legged Deadlifts Standing Military Barbell Presses Standing calve raises DB curls you can vary these exercises....but they cover the whole body... eat common sense things....as well as not eat common sense things...no junk food....chips are not a food group...neither is pizza...no matter how much meat and vegetables it has... -drink gallon of water a day or close to it -lean meats, fish, birds -complex carbs(yams, lentils, buckwheat, whole wheat/rye breads, fibrous carbs like beans) -healthy fats(seeds, nuts, avacados) I suggest you cut calorie intake by no more than 500 calories and replace calories you do eat with healhy choices... do cardio for 30 min 3-4 times a week.........at the best pace you can manage...you can also vary it ...by doing intervals....2 min jog, 1 min sprint, 2 min job, etc...

Your lucky menace got to your post before I did, because with your kind of attitude, I would have gladly told you to just stop eating. It's easy, effective, and not only does it not take up time, it'll probably save you time.
Menace, I wouldnt recommend squats, deadlifts, or rows... They are all to "hard". Change your attitude, then change your lifestyle. -------------- To have talent is to have limits. I try to balance out my sarcasm/criticism with a bit of advice...but as wrestler quite pointedly stated...attitute is #1 when it comes to success...this is the reason many talented athletes end up working at Mcdonalds....and why equally or even less talented players are able to grind it out in NBA,NFL, and so forth.....because they want it....they fight for every ounce of success.....DRIVE is what gets you where you want to be....quite obviously your goals are different than those of elite athletes...but to emulate their success ......you have to have that same determination....
just makes me sick to hear that kind of attitude...this is why 66% of americans are overweight/obese....liquor stores on every corner, junk food drive thrus every other block, million fast food delivery places,etc....god forbid you actually walk more than a block to get those chips, soda, liqour, etc...eh.... it amazes me how people fail to realize that fitness is a lifetime commitment....yea you can lose 50lbs million different ways....but there are only a few ways that will allow you to keep that weight off long term and keep your body from being damaged in the process..... best of wishes robert....hope you change your attitude on fitness...

Sorry if that came out overly critical... It just upsets me hearing how many people want to look good and be healthy but don't think it requires any real work.-------------- To have talent is to have limits. Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think in my last post I worded everything correctly. I deffinatly sounded lazy and wanted an easy way out. I didn't mean to come off that way. What I should have said was that I was looking for a work out that would short and effective because I do not have a lot of time durring the day to work out. I am pledging a frat right now and I also need to keep up grades, plus the community service projects I'm working on. So I wasn't looking for a work out that was easy to do, but one that was time efficient and effective. I appreciate your advise and I am fully aware that it takes hard work and dedication, I'm sorry if you got the wrong impression.
Anyway, Thanks for the advise. |

it's all good robert...happens to the best of us....like I was saying circuits are probably best for you at this point...it will have a cardiovascular benefit due to short rest times....and using compound exercises will ramp up metabolism for days after.....you can do these workouts in 30 minutes....depending on how long it takes to rack/unrack weights and whether you have to wait...although most gyms have power racks empty just about always....
wrestler...it's not overly critical....the way he came off originally deserved every bit of it....and I toned down my original post.....sometimes people need a good kick in the butt...I realize that in this case it may have been undue as robert is a hard working busy college student.... robert refer to the alcohol post in advanced bodybuilding forum......since you're pledging a frat...i assume u'll be drinking ...so u def need to read that.... alcohol has 7 calories per gram...second only to fat....in density....so if you're losing weight ....0 alcohol it also slows up muscle recovery and repair...and ruins your workout....by dehydrating you...making you feel nauseous...dizzy....lethargic...etc....(I know I am making an assumption...but just stating this to be on the safe side..)
